Nah, this is a good pickup. I was hoping ND would take Gayles as the 3rd WR in this class.Bama getting our sloppy seconds is the timeline I was born for

Heard that and I hate itLoy said in the recent Irish illustrated podcast Gayles was coming here but they decided to move on because they expect faison back next year.
I know. I usually preach that. Just like Gayles a lot. Hopefully 28 has some dudes at wrAt some point you gotta budget. Graham and Porter were not cheap. They essentially brought in 7 WR last year
so we turn down a borderline 5 star because a guy might come back for his 5th year makes zero senseLoy said in the recent Irish illustrated podcast Gayles was coming here but they decided to move on because they expect faison back next year.
What will be interesting is what greathouse decides to do?Interesting decision but I don't hate another year of Faison either
Gales could be really good, he could even be Jordan Faison!so we turn down a borderline 5 star because a guy might come back for his 5th year makes zero sense

Something tells me there are a lot of things that make zero sense to youso we turn down a borderline 5 star because a guy might come back for his 5th year makes zero sense
Okay? So we are turning down a 4 star high upside guy? with 105 scholarshipsIt’s possible they don’t think he’s a 5 star WR

I don't buy that for a fucking second.Loy said in the recent Irish illustrated podcast Gayles was coming here but they decided to move on because they expect faison back next year.
Should clarify, Loy didn’t say he was 100% going to ND but that we had a very good chance of closing if he did visit. Also - probably has more so to do with last years recruiting/portal class than faison potentially returning for one more year.I don't buy that for a fucking second.
There is no way that Freeman and staff are making that kind of decision based on the notion that Faison is back next year. Dude is a senior and if he has an insane year (which he is absolutely capable of), he is almost certainly gone.
No chance this is what happened. Zilch. Nada.
Subtraction. Addition’s tricky friend.Something tells me there are a lot of things that make zero sense to you
also the 2028 WR class is pretty deep so maybe that’s part of the reasonRight now Faison is coming back for 2028, but if he has a big year things would change. CJ is going to have options at WR, I think the 3 G's are going to shine- Greathouse, Gilbert, & Graham. Throw in Porter when he returns and Ian Premer when he opens some eyes on the field.
Agreed and also the 27 class- can't wait for JJ Jr.also the 2028 WR class is pretty deep so maybe that’s part of the reason
This is where I would love a budget sheet. If gayles was 500k but they showed that money went to Segun and Simien, I am good with itWelcome to a soft cap, salary cap era. Gayles is the type of prospect that ND would have never turned down pre-NIL. Then again, they probably wouldn't have been in on him either. But when you spend what ND did to bring Quincy Porter and Myland Graham over from Ohio State and you project out what it will cost to try to convince Jordan Faison to take advantage of the 5-for-5 rule rather than being a mid round NFL Draft pick at the conclusion of 2026, it is what it is. They chose to save some money and get Jackson Coleman, then spent more elsewhere.
