Q: do you have to be a teacher at the high school to be a coach of one of their sports teams?

Depends on the state. In Indiana you have to have a teaching license to be the head football or basketball coach from my understanding. Not sure about Alabama.

I thought Indiana did away with this.

Then we get Jay Cutler's kids in 2030 and 2032 followed by Carson Palmer's in 2035.

We WILL correct Boob's transgressions.

Sadly I think Cutty’s kids will be too far gone by that point. Carson Palmers kids though should be good

In ND I dont believe its required.

Our basketball coach when I was in high school (2010 grad) was a financial planner. Though perhaps he had a teaching degree, hell if I know

They did.
IIRC, they did away with this requirement for all sports except FB & BB. States went this direction because schools were always having problems getting teachers to coach the other sports. At the HS my kids attended, the golf coach's full time job was insurance. That was back in the 90's.

Freeman has a great track record with former NFL players that are now parents. That reason alone should give us some solid hope.

I don’t remember the year, but it was sometime around 2010-2015 or so. Most schools do still try and hire coaches in these sports who work in the school—but it’s no longer required.

Edit: It was 14-15. Coaches in FB and Boys BB are desired to have one, but schools could/can apply for a waiver as long as the coach does some sort of continuing education courses.

You have more info on this or where to find it? I thought bare minimum they had to be on track to get one with use of an emergency permit or something else. Never knew it changed.

Yeah fundamentalist catholics and members of the Quiverfull movement
I imagine Philip Rivers would call this "Orthodox Catholic" and "open to life". It's a bit odd (and historically naive) that one of the fundamental tenants of Western Christianity up until the Lambeth Conference - that children are a gift and an end in themselves (rather than, say, a means to the personal fulfillment of their parents) - should be treated as some kind of modern movement. The idea animated the whole Judeo-Christian tradition until that fracture.
