I think we are overreacting here. The staff clearly believes that his traits and game translate to the college level. He's a great prospect.

Let's see how it plays out. He's under duress a lot and throwing darts to high school kids who can't make the play.

On a much more positive note, 2026 quarterback Dia Bell just won the elite 11 MVP. ND turned him away for Grubbs basically.

As good as this class currently sits, could you imagine a five star quarterback leading the way on offense?

Hate to be the guy who says it, any chance Grubbs gets processed later in the season? I just don’t think he’s the stud qb that we need especially following Hebert

Raja Bell is Dia Bell's dad. That's wild.

DIA Bell would have been Irish if we pushed hard enough he grew up with the Faisons and has even said he wanted to play with them.

It’s funny folks were skeptical of ND recruiting up till maybe 5 days ago yet are sure we would have landed a 5 star American Heritage QB Texas wanted over a year ago, because of a couple one off nuggets
It’s been pretty widely reported by every site that he wanted to play football at ND. ISD staff just confirmed again in a thread this afternoon.

It does feel like this one might be heading towards a processing, absent a huge senior year.
Barring something truly unforeseen I don't think there is any way we process him. Gino identified him early and hasn't waivered at all since then.

This isn't a situation where we were hoping he'd grow a few inches, he already has a college frame.

Think he’d have to really tank his 1H of his senior year for us to look at other options. Even then I think we don’t process him, just try bring in another body for “depth”.

I guess everyone on the beat is wrong

It’s an extremely naive/simplistic POV to act like the recruitment of Dia Bell would have been THAT straightforward.

Has any modern era 5 star QB recruitment in ND history been that easy?

As alway, I think reality is somewhere in the middle. The thought they could have been one of the favorites for Bells makes me sad. But it's not like last year at this time we were screaming that he should be getting an offer or should have been recruited over Grubbs (at least that I recall)

I suppose that the skepticism that made its way through the ND fan base just a week ago was too far off base, but your skepticism on something that’s been widely reported by folks with actual sources and intel hits home. Checks out and makes perfect sense.

Yes I am skeptic we had a layup 5 star QB in the bag signed sealed and delivered….okay to whatever the rest means.
