He reminds me of the 2010s Air Raid QBs. His arm is good, not elite. Don’t love his throwing motion but it’s fine. A stronger lower body might add some juice there. He’s not a statue, he’s more mobile than like Kyle McCord for example. Offense they are asking him to run is very RPO first read stuff.

At LSU, the slot fade was a big part of Denbrock's O. I talked to Grubb's OC last year about their deep choice concept (Briles shit). He could excel here if we have the dudes out wide...

Yeah, I think he’s appropriately ranked around 150. I view him and Minchey similarly coming out of high school from an expectation perspective. Kenny probably has a little bit more upside because of his mobility.

Why are there only bad vibes?

I’m getting a weird vibe about Grubbs. I’m about to give up and go after that superstar two sport guy at Moeller.

Was told early showings on Hebert were not great. Yes he has time to figure it out. It’s been a couple practices, but cannot ND miss on this ‘26 class.

I said it before that I didn’t think Grubbs fit the mold of what MD wants to do. Still think he’s a nice QB. That said, with ND now playing the game, no reason they shouldn’t get who they want in the ‘26 class.

Well I guess they can. Just got portaling.

and that was Grubbs, no?

Going back through the archives of my memory, I believe Brady Hart was the guy that they really, truly wanted (or more appropriately, their #1 target at that time) but wasn’t ready to give a commitment yet and was thinking of stretching his decision into his junior year.

Grubbs was ready so they happily took his commitment. Hart committed to Michigan a month or so later, flipped to A&M, and then reclassified.

He wasn’t their top choice. No.

Good player. He wanted in. They took it. If I remember correctly, Denbrock wasn’t even hired until a few weeks before they took Grubbs. Could be wrong.

I mean without Hart we only offered 5 2026 guys (excluded Lyons). Curtis (UGA), Smigel, Huhn and Griffin.

This is how page 1 starts:

“Definitely the most involved '26 QB.

Camped at ND last June and got offered.

Returned for the Ohio St game.

Visited last month.

Has stated ND is recruiting him the hardest.”

It was always him and Hart like @CanadalovesND said. Maybe give Hart 1A.

I think both Herbert and Grubbs can win football games here. Both will have time to develop. If Carr is QB both will be backups for 1-2 years and if it doesn’t work out ND can always go portaling. If Grubbs doesn’t work they can always try flipping the Houston QB whose #2 from Texas

Grubbs committed in June ‘24. Denbrock was hired on staff a few months prior.

Agree on the analysis of Grubbs but still trying to figure out who he reminds of as a player. I can kind of see the Robertson comparison even though Robertson has a slightly livelier arm, a better touch in the intermediate throws and better size.

Easy there, Mel Kiper.

If anyone is a coach and has a Glazier pass, his OC gave 3 clinics recently. Helps give some insight on strengths

QBs who overcome the size/athleticism/arm strength are ones that can read the field in their sleep and have lightning quick releases. I see a slow release and that's my biggest pause, moreso than size/speed.

Well wish I didn’t watch that lmao.

If you’re looking for positives, his mobility is definitely improved.

FWIW - That team they played, First Academy, is absolutely loaded especially at DL and DB. All 8 starters will be playing P4 football. Had to look them up bc I was so impressed by some of those plays lmao.

Loy said they are breaking in new OL. Also I think Williams was WR3 last year and is WR1 now IIRC.

Bad OL might actually be good to evaluate him spin zone

He didn’t look good, no question. But, I’m not going to overreact to a HS spring game lol

Singer mentioned in a show with Kyle Kelly that First Academy is trying to become the next IMG. They have been recruiting the state hard and even nationally, to pull in top talent.

Definitely will be interesting to see if that name, First Academy, has any prestige the next five years when it comes to HS football.

The fact that they are loaded and I’ve never heard of it spells well for NDs chances of a kid that goes there lol

He's obviously a very good high school QB and may turn out to be good for ND, but he's not someone you would really get excited about the year after Herbert.

He does not remind me of Minchey at all. Minchey was a kid who had potential to be the kind of mobile "pass first, but true dual-threat" QB ND has wanted to build around. There may have been more development to do with Minchey compared to others, but the potential was clearly there.

Grubbs is a good prospect, but hard to picture in the offenses we have been running since Golson. He is a pocket passer. The closest comparison to me is a bigger Pyne, which does not bode all that well for me.

I have a feeling ND will have to look for a transfer QB after Carr or land a guy in 2027 ready to come in
