Yeah, I think he’s appropriately ranked around 150. I view him and Minchey similarly coming out of high school from an expectation perspective. Kenny probably has a little bit more upside because of his mobility.

I said it before that I didn’t think Grubbs fit the mold of what MD wants to do. Still think he’s a nice QB. That said, with ND now playing the game, no reason they shouldn’t get who they want in the ‘26 class.

Going back through the archives of my memory, I believe Brady Hart was the guy that they really, truly wanted (or more appropriately, their #1 target at that time) but wasn’t ready to give a commitment yet and was thinking of stretching his decision into his junior year.

Grubbs was ready so they happily took his commitment. Hart committed to Michigan a month or so later, flipped to A&M, and then reclassified.

I think both Herbert and Grubbs can win football games here. Both will have time to develop. If Carr is QB both will be backups for 1-2 years and if it doesn’t work out ND can always go portaling. If Grubbs doesn’t work they can always try flipping the Houston QB whose #2 from Texas

He reminds me of the 2010s Air Raid QBs. His arm is good, not elite. Don’t love his throwing motion but it’s fine. A stronger lower body might add some juice there. He’s not a statue, he’s more mobile than like Kyle McCord for example. Offense they are asking him to run is very RPO first read stuff.

Agree on the analysis of Grubbs but still trying to figure out who he reminds of as a player. I can kind of see the Robertson comparison even though Robertson has a slightly livelier arm, a better touch in the intermediate throws and better size.

QBs who overcome the size/athleticism/arm strength are ones that can read the field in their sleep and have lightning quick releases. I see a slow release and that's my biggest pause, moreso than size/speed.

FWIW - That team they played, First Academy, is absolutely loaded especially at DL and DB. All 8 starters will be playing P4 football. Had to look them up bc I was so impressed by some of those plays lmao.

Definitely will be interesting to see if that name, First Academy, has any prestige the next five years when it comes to HS football.

He does not remind me of Minchey at all. Minchey was a kid who had potential to be the kind of mobile "pass first, but true dual-threat" QB ND has wanted to build around. There may have been more development to do with Minchey compared to others, but the potential was clearly there.

Grubbs is a good prospect, but hard to picture in the offenses we have been running since Golson. He is a pocket passer. The closest comparison to me is a bigger Pyne, which does not bode all that well for me.

No interest in ND. The staff investigated him when he was still at Bolingbrook and never looked again.

If I was going to place a futures on a P4 bust, this is where my money would be placed.
