I think ND has the talent and the OC this year to show out on offense. They'll still run the ball, but they should have a much improved air attack. That new film and a recruiting reboot should help with 2025. Hard to blame a lot of these WRs. ND just hasn't had much WR success under MF (for a lot of reasons, all of which are irrelevant to an 18 year old). A change in recruiting philosophy for WR needs to take place though. This seems abysmal.

Also of note to me, while watching his commitment video:
- No mention of BK
- Meadows's dad is like a statue. lol
To be fair, ND hasn't had much success at WR under MF because of Kelly.

Keep in mind, this is the WR room Marcus Freeman inherited by class:

2017: N/A
2018: Braden Lenzy
2019: N/A
2020: N/A
2021: Jayden Thomas and Deion Colzie
2022: N/A

Kelly had four classes where by their 2nd year, nobody was still on roster playing receiver. That is BEYOND atrocious, that's downright workplace negligence.

We were at the point in 2023, where we had literally 1 non-freshman body in the rotation in Tobias Merriweather, who obviously transferred because he had a horrible sophomore year. That was the 1 commit Kelly left us in his final class, because there was zero contingency when Williams and Walker bailed in the 11th hour.

Push Terry out for being more dynamic and a better player than any we have committed?? Hmm makes sense
He wasn’t pushed out. He visited elsewhere and lied about it. I would feel better if he was still in the class

That’s not an issue relevant to the situation. Whose spot is he stealing from the zero others left on the board
So what you are saying is without Jerome Bettis… 🧐

Yikes!!!

What im saying is add 2-3 more burress types high 3 or low 4 with a meaningful trait and start catching up with the other position groups to not limp dick into 2026 as well. And my koon style broken record additional point is and also pass rush d ends since apparently we just ignore that now

Anyway on days like these just watch the ‘Caleb Williams Nowhere to go at Notre Dame’ YouTube video.

You left out styles (regressed under Stuckey/freeman) and Tobias (didn’t develop), two very highly sought after recruits

I agree the 5 we had was not enough, but it was freeman that made final decision to not push portal his first two years when it was painfully obvious he should have at wr (and 2022 qb)

Freeman as a dc in practice was probably dominating buchner pyne and the entire offense. Instead of realizing we had crap qbs and wrs, he thought his defensive was amazing when Oklahoma state said, hi.

That last sentence is so absurd that I can only assume you're joking.

It’s a bit tongue in cheek, but how someone who went against Buchner pyne and our wrs in practice every day could say “yep, this is good enough for the 2022 season” is beyond me.

Our poor 2022/2023 wr and passing results are no doubt having an impact on recruiting now.

I'm pretty sure what he thought in regard to the QB position, was that they had a QB on the roster who was top 10ish amongst QB recruits in his class, and while inexperienced, appeared to have a high ceiling. Freeman most likely figured that while it was a gamble, rolling with Buchner could've potentially yielded a big payout that would last longer than a transfer QB if he put it all together. And he simply couldn't foresee him getting injured for the season in game 2 or being a major bust overall, all of which made the decision to not get a transfer QB look short-sighted, but only when viewing it with 20/20 hindsight vision. And to be fair, even Saban tried plugging Buchner into a game after all this happened, so it's not as if other coaches couldn't see the same potential, it just never panned out

Got to ask…. why are you, an LSU fan, here on this board? You seem like a guy people here like.

I’m definitely a LSU / SEC guy (LSU undergrad, Vandy Grad - Owen School
of Management) now living in Houston.

Always liked Notre Dame and even made my first game / trip to South Bend last year (Pittsburgh and then Indianapolis the next day for Saints - Colts). I’m currently trying to free up my plans for Labor Day to go to College Station and root on ND vs. A&M.

I just like to poke fun here and there about BK, which some posters are sensitive about. That said, admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of BK. He’s a high floor, low ceiling kinda guy (which is why I threw in the Milos gif).

We will see if that is BK come November. Me thinks LSU is not making the playoffs this year and the seat will get warm for BK. Time for another coat of paint.
With our defense, who we lost (Daniels, Nabers, Thomas Jr) and that schedule (USC, @ South Carolina, UCLA, Ole Miss, @ Arky, @ A&M, Alabama, @ Florida, OU), 9-3 is the best case scenario. I’m sure we’ll get the same old excuses, however.

What should I expense for dinner tomorrow in Atlanta?
El Tesoro has phenomenal tacos and burritos on the East side. If you want barbecue, Fox Bros is really good over that way as well. If you want to stay in midtown/downtown: Rumi’s kitchen (Persian), Blue India, people really like South City kitchen, and there are a bunch of options in Ponce City Market

Fair or unfair, wasn't my point. I said the reasons are irrelevant to an 18 year old. It's well documented that near or at the top of the priority list for recruits when choosing a school is scheme fit and getting to the NFL. ND isn't churning out top round NFL players at the position and haven't been for awhile. It's likely the biggest reason why ND is struggling to land these top kids. Elite WRs year after year aren't going to line up for a run-first, TE heavy offense. We shouldn't be shocked by this. Change the narrative by involving a more explosive offense and the recruiting will work itself out.
