Loy & Dohn CB'd him tonight. It was a no brainer especially after he reposted a that commit graphic above.

I saw a bunch of people bagging on his "lack of production" but there were some reasons he wasn't a 1000 yd WR in '23. The statistical star of the team is Nolan James, a 2025 RB committed to BC (I'd keep an eye on him). Burress shares targets with Dezie Jones, also a '25 prospect with offers from OSU, UT, Ole Miss, PSU, FL & Duke. He works out of the slot and his crisp routes seemed to catch the eye of the young, soph QB. With James & Jones there again next year, I doubt Burress will ever impress the stat hounds... unless the QB (who looks good on highlights) catches fire.

With 2 of the 12 games not reported, he put up ..... 25 rec ... 434 yds ... 5 TD

BTW... You don't think he chose DePaul over Bergen just so he could wear pops' fit?

BTW:

His QB I mentioned above has offers from Duke, Rutgers, BC, VT, and Miss St.

So what I meant to say was... if he really, really catches fire.

Film looks good. For a junior, his route running is advance. If he can fill out physically, I think he could be a good player. High floor, high ceiling athlete.

He looks to be a solid WR. But you can’t take him and Bettis together. WR is the weakest position on the team. You have to go get some big time talent guys to make that room much more dangerous.

From what I can recall he reminds me of a Chris Brown.

Chris Brown was a pretty good Notre Dame football player. I’d take another of him.

I dunno. Maybe it’s a statement on our recruiting or development but WR seems to be one of the harder positions to project from HS to success in college. Most of our better-performing WRs in recent years were not necessarily the top recruits, while the higher-rated WRs haven’t necessarily panned out.

Like, I look at Burress’ offer list and stats/measurables, and I’m underwhelmed. But obviously the staff sees something. I’ll trust them.

He was good and reliable but never was flashy or big time. Yes I 100% you need a reliable WR.

We need to develop these young guys better. Hopefully Mike can do that.

Obviously not every star athletes kid follows in their footsteps and lives up to the same standard set by their parent, but to some extent pedigree does matter and you have to look at the parent and factor the genetics and "what if" into your equation when measuring risk/reward with a player. At worst with Elijah you end up with a nice little WR who might never be a star or even a starter, but could be a good depth piece. At best, he grows another 3 inches and continues to develop his advanced technique and route running to become a nightmare for a defense.
Plus it never hurts to have recognizable guys who spent time in the league and did it at a high level around your program. Its good PR when a guy like Ulracher or Plax, who didnt attend ND think highly enough about your coaching staff and program to send their kid there. Nice feather in the cap.

This is happening awfully quick. That would be my concern here. But if you like a kid and he wants to commit you take it. and worry about the trips later, if they're are any.
