Question: for folks who think ND's handicapped by having Carr here ahead of Deuce, how is Texas having Manning any different?
Manning will be draft eligible next year. Carr will have 2 years left

Sure, but Manning is also a kid who was willing to sit a year or two. There's no guarantee that he's going to bolt for the NFL first chance he gets.

True. But I would think Texas is gonna sell him having a huge year and bolting.

As a Jet fan I can assure you that Mannings stay in school for as long as they can. I expect Arch to be a fifth year.

I am not one who believes it has 100% everything to do with Carr. Maybe 40%. I think it has more to do with the skill talent and then location. Deuce can come here, get paid, and play or not play. Just the same at Auburn. The Auburn head coaches chair is going to start getting warmer as time goes on. He may have to pull a transfer in to start next year and not rely on a true freshman. Deuce one way or another will have to beat someone out for a job.

Deuce can either go through this at Notre Dame, with no real guarantee to start or at Auburn with no real guarantee to start. I think it comes down to location and comfortability at the school. There are more concerns at Auburn than at Notre Dame. And as crazy as it sounds, I think he has a much better shot of making it to the NFL at Notre Dame than he does at Auburn. I just don't think his camp is thinking about it this way and a booing home crowd isn't helping the cause to get him here. We gotta stop that shit. It doesn't help anything. Riley is going nowhere unless someone Nancy Kerrigans him in the hallway.

Under normal circumstances I would agree, but he's football royalty with THE best possible advisors and support system football can offer a young QB. They are already a well off family, so I doubt he'll be worried about a money grab. I would imagine if they genuinely believe one more season under Sark is what would be best for his long-tern development, that's what they'll do.

You are in a new era. The coaches are getting paid and so are the players. If you don’t want to be booed then do your damn job.

I think little has to do with Carr actually I think the biggest issue is we didn’t land any elite WR’s Deuce was all vocal about ND then shit went down when we were apparently leading for all 3 of the guys left on our board and none committed here

True, but I have watched 4 games this year. There is the loose, attacking ND road team and then there is this tight, passive home team. It's a mindset thing. Not sure what it is, but this Notre Dame team will never be blown out by anyone. Also they will rarely do a Purdue to someone. It's just who they are. If they get up on you by two scores, game over.

It appears that offensive rhythm is the key to their success (2nd Half T A&M and all of Purdue) and if that rhythm is taken away by turnovers and crap drives, they go into a shell. Army, Navy, Louisville, GT, USC,- Stanford are just going to be dogfights no matter who starts at QB. They don't have to be, but this ND team will never take the top off of you. Marcus Freeman is a Tressel acolyte. That's this team. It plays like a Jim Tressel early to middle 2000's OSU team to a T.

Deuce is still a project at the end of the day. He can go to Auburn and probably be rushed in to playing early when he won't be ready. He can go to ND and sit behind Carr and take the time to develop. Long term his best chance of success is the Irish. But most players don't think long term these days.

I’m good w/ him staying down south. This looks like another prima Donna playing the game. Maybe he’s just doing his due diligence which I would commend but my cynical side tells me he or his family is looking to cash in. Again, good for him but after Dante Moore & Keon Keeley, it’s become tiresome. Best of luck to the young man when he suits up for the Barners

I read that but then he immediately got reminded regarding all the praise he heaped on Freeze in prior tweets. So which is it?

Probably the more recent one lol

I love drama, but it’s also a reality that the more you distance yourself from a situation, the more clearly you see it for what it was. Watching Freeze throwing dudes under the bus one after another probably further reinforces what Wallace realized long ago, but was hesitant to reconcile with himself.

Obviously the ploy by the burg of Busco to keep you away is working brilliantly…
Since busco got brought up, and this is 50/50 recruit/food thread....ever been to sav u mor and gotten some brats? They now have over 200 flavors. I make the trip from Roanoke up there once a month to stock up. Love the 4 cheese and bacon flavor

Deuce isn't going to no Auburn. If he was, he'd have committed there by now. And they suck, as he has now gotten to see up close repeatedly. Is he gonna go back next week and watch them lose again?
That doesn't mean he's coming to Notre Dame either, of course. Honestly if Texas is really an option for him, that's probably where he'll wind up, and it would be hard to argue against.
At this point all I care about is that he either fully commit to ND or cut loose with enough time for us to land someone else.

Not for nothing, but it's not a stretch at all to say that Auburn may lose their next four games.

I said it in the gameday thread, but ND needs to take a serious, serious look at it's pregame routine because the sluggishness in front of the home crowd is basically an expectation now.

Absolutely. It’s a hidden gem in a pretty weird, nondescript grocery store.

We live in Columbia City—there’s two pretty solid options here in Krider’s meats and Wood Farms. But Busco is en route to the lake, so I normally stop for brews and brats in Busco on the way.

Arkansas up 10 late over Auburn but we know recruits don’t really care about W/L like fans do. Freeze will likely do the requisite “see if we had you, we’d win these games. Come be our starting QB next season….and may I introduce you to Cinnamon a huge Auburn fan looking for a date”
Do huge Auburn fans look similar to huge Purdue fans?

Valid and I’m not disagreeing with you on that. I just think that’s an angle and play Texas will make with him.
