If he's not a high NIL guy though, and he's a potentially high MLB draft pick, it's probably easier for him to make "decent" money in minor league baseball than it is in college football (even if it's easier to ultimately make "big" money in pro football).
According to Google, about 95 percent of three-star recruits never make it to the NFL either.

Either way, dude should probably go to college.
Average salary for minor league baseball player is 50,000

If he’s a top 100 draft pick his signing bonus will be easily 7 figures. He has all the leverage, he can say pay me or I’ll go to Notre dame the next 3 years. It’s not even close, he’d make significantly more money in baseball if he’d be drafted that high.

5th round MLB guys usually get around 400-500,000 signing bonus or pick value

Even if it's six figures ($400K-$500K) that's a lot more a three-star defensive back would likely get in NIL in college. And he gets it now. Not in three or four years maybe if he beats the football odds and becomes like a fourth-round NFL pick.

Not when they’re in high school and have full scholarship offers to top colleges, giving them all the leverage like I said. Also, try to read a little slower…I said top 100. That’s top 3 rounds, so why are you quoting 5th round?

That's not how it works at all. The average HS singing bonus in the 5th round (will take your example round) was well over 1 million last year. Teams try not to waste a draft pick unless they have some assurances on a signing + buy them out of going to college.

If you see Logan get drafted in the 4th/5th range and he's really that good - it's something to monitor for sure and it's a real decision to make.

One day after the draft he could be a PRO athlete with a possible 7-figure signing bonus or a 3-star true freshmen going to redshirt at a non-premium position (to the NFL).

Minor league salaries below triple A are extremely low 15-20k a year or so. The bonus is what would cause him to go the baseball route and they are less than six figures in the lower rounds. ND football will pay him enough to keep him unless he goes pretty high in the draft.
Picking ND over Vandy tells me he wants to give football a shot

We got Blair by loosing Taylor. Blair is just as good but a better cultural fit.
Blair was coming regardless, he would've committed in Feb but the visit In April just solidified what he already wanted to do.

Like I have said before....I work with a guy who's son plays baseball with him at Snider. From what I was told from him....he will have what I would consider to be a very nice NIL package. I guess they talked about it one night he was over.

I wonder how much NIL changes the math for picks in that range of the MLB Draft. If my options were college football and no money or MLB and money at 18, I’d probably have taken MLB.

FYI here are the numbers for a 4th/5th round pick: MLB Bonus Numbers. We're looking between $407,300 - $722,600, which has to exceed whatever NIL package he has as a 3 star true freshman safety.

MLB draft is using a bonus pool system now. Each team has a number they can spend, and they spend every penny is most cases. They can pay “overslot” for a guy they like. They just have to go under slot with other picks to balance it out.
So they have the capability of outbidding us regardless of the round they pick him in. It’s just going to come down to how much a given team likes him.

I think he has a better chance to make more money staying at ND and going the NFL route 95% of guys don’t make it to the pros in baseball most get cut after 2 years

What the fuck is this post lmao. Where do you see his path to significant playing time that would get him a NFL roster spot? The talent projected to be in the room for the next three years does not show a path that is reasonable unless you're smoking good meth that you can say that a guy who's being looked at as an MLB pick is going to jump the guys below.

2026 - Talich/Tae/Blair/Long/O'Brien (hopefully)/Pouncey
2027 - Tae/Blair/Long/O'Brien (hopefully)/Pouncey
2028 - Blair/Long/O'Brien (hopefully)/Pouncey

From what I was told...his NIL package coming in will be in that range. I was surprised when I was told, but have no reason to question it
Back to what slick said though, last year 5th rounders signed from high school signed for $1.25M, $1.32M, $1.7M, $900k, $1M, and $900K

And your source doubled down on it? I’m a bit surprised ND would give that much money for a first year freshman.

I would love for him to stick around and develop in both sports and run with whichever he's most proficient. He's an absolute stud athlete who would greatly help the ND baseball team.

Would it make more sense for him to stick around and play both baseball and football at Notre Dame for at least a year or 2?

That's the only scenario that doesn't make sense - you have to go to college (except Junior College) for 3 years to be draft eligible for MLB. Also, 3 years for NFL.

MLB Draft:
High school
JUCO in year 1 or 2
4-year school in year 3 or 4 (maybe some provision if you're 21 years old)
*you could get drafted 5 times

I also hope he stays and does both.
