I agree. His highlights show a lot of bodying up and he looks good playing downhill.

Maybe it's a product of the system he plays in but I didn't seem a ton of backpedal and turn there.

not at all surprised, which sorta takes the juice out of some of my excitement, but a great pickup nonetheless.

He’s not like Morrison and Mickey who have trained as CBs for years. Went into his sophomore season expecting to be a backup WR. Injuries and suddenly he was the starting CB week one. He comes from a good HS program but could probably use additional CB training in the off-season. Buying the potential combined with additional coaching at the HS level and Mickens.

Gained a fourth star on the 24/7 composite rankings.

Went from a three-star, 0.8567 rating ----> 0.8911 & #354 NAT & #34 CB

You knew it was coming. As frustrating as it is to watch some of our guys who start out as top 50 or top 100 guys drop a little during their senior seasons, the guys they offer who are “lower rated” typically don't stay lower rated. I feel like we have a staff with a pretty good eye for talent right now.

The guy training Hobbs, Bryson White, was involved with some bad shit back in the day. He got in some bad-news, MAJOR red-flag trouble in high school, and again while he was at WMU... but he has turned his life around and is doing what he can to help young guys between Cincy and Dayton achieve their goals.

I had a few interactions with him, not related to football, and he seemed like a fine, normal guy who couldn't help but talk about the guys he was helping. He was genuinely excited for them and their opportunities, and that included talking about Hobbs visiting ND while still committed to SC. He knew Hobbs was jacked up about the opportunity at ND, and seemed very excited for him.

An interesting redemption story, if you're all curious and want to do some Googling.

can't remember if this board or somewhere else but someone posted that they've seen him play in person in the Cincy and that he basically isn't very good as a DB and that teams aren't afraid to throw at him. i haven't seen any video of him and so i have no idea how good or bad he is but i'm trusting coach Mickens and Freeman who offered him

Certainly seems like he's developing. With the struggle ND has had getting some real free safety center fielder types, i'm interested if Freeman and co. change their strategy and stockpile these long athletic corners with the intention to move some.
That physicality Hobbs plays with may work well at the back end.

i've always liked this idea of just recruiting talented ball hawking corners and move them to safety, similar to what ND does on the OL in finding the five most talented OLmen and put them on the field.
