I'm worried that our coaches are not serious people based on some of these moves. And we know the admin isn't when it comes to fully supporting the program.
I can understand the disappointment and frustration with much of what we've seen so far under Freeman the head coach, but of all the things to worry about, for me this isn't even close to being one of them.

The idea that this group of men who are coaching this program "are not serious" is hyperbolic and speculative at best. The idea they're just sitting around fucking about and collecting paychecks doesn't seem remotely plausible to me. I understand it is a younger, greener staff trying to navigate unprecedented waters in college football and the NCAA, but maybe we need to stop and think before we cast aspersions like this.

Most of these guys were here when they lost to Stanford and rattled off five wins in a row. That alone leads me to believe they're not just dicking around for their own amusement to piss off message boards dedicated to their program's following.

Driskell says he has talked to multiple now in the know, they all have a little different angle on the timeline, but all agree on the facts:

1) ND no longer wanted Wafle in the class

2) ND was moving on from Wafle regardlesd

3) Wafle approached ND about visiting Michigan

4) Wafle didn’t want to decommit yet

5) ND saw this as an opportunity to move on from Wafle so they told him he could OV Michigan after he decommitted

6) ND wanted him to take the visit, that way they could move on “mutually”

7) The difference in timelines is who approached who first, but there is no difference in opinion that ND was moving on regardless & him wanting to visit Michigan was a welcomed event for ND because they like other guys more

Makes more sense now.

Freeman doing his recruits dirty. The visit planned to Michigan is a nice out for this staff but it looks like he was told to walk the plank,

Not the ND way that is for sure.

ND hadn’t moved on yet.

Like they didn’t technically move on Nickel or Irvin. They told both they were recruiting over them & it was their decision to stay or leave.

Wafle didn’t have to take the visit or decommit. He could have forced ND’s hand and then we would have seen what happened?

I think that makes the most sense. The better question is, who do they think they will get that is better? I am not saying that Wafle is great or not, as I am not the high school football player film buff that some think they are. I am really curious how much actual information we are getting from the beat guys on where we stand with kids. Driscoll has also talked about his sources are extremely confident in Scott, but he is not so sure. I am assuming those are the same sources that got him to fly off the handle on this situation before he actually collected the facts. (Not that he has ever done that before.) I just wonder how much is going on behind the scenes with this staff that we really don't know about.

Pretty clear they like Sevillano fit better

My guess is if Bryce Young keeps growing he might end up SDE/3T tweener and Wafle is redundant

It might not have been the ND way before, but with the present state of college football (decommitments, transfers, etc.), it is the right thing to do today. All other major programs do it. Times have changed.

Disagree.

If those events are exactly what happened, then it doesn't matter what Notre Dame was *eventually* going to do. He took the steps to violate their clear policy, so they parted ways. It's not a secret that they don't allow committed players to take official visits.

You all are missing the Succession reference. Not being serious people doesn't mean joking around. It means you don't have the requisite experience and acumen to run with the big boys. Verdict is still out on this staff and ND as a whole but there are some concerns.

For all those with their panties in a bunch about Wafle possibly being processed, I'll say this -- you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.
And would you feel the same if BK did it?? I bet there would have been an uproar.

Hey I don’t mind but ND Purists will.

I want the team to win and the admin to get TF out of the way. I'm a subway alum, so I have no skin in the game beyond what I invest in terms of apparel. I don't give a shit who the coach is so long as they're doing what's best for the program.

I agree that if Waffle said he wanted to visit Michigan, staff can cut him loose.

It's a double win
1. If they really liked another kid more. Win
2. Sends message to current and future commits .... you can go on a visit if you want, but if you do, you just might lose your spot. Win

It does seem like a rather shrewd move on their part. Certainly not much sentiment to it when you consider he had been committed for a little over a year.

Congratulations on losing your concern cherry.

If you’re not constantly re-evaluating your roster, you’re not going to survive. Wafle is going to be just fine.

Is he ever not in full meltdown mode? I swear every time his name gets brought up, it's how he's losing it over mundane bullshit. A kid gets dropped in May and it's the end of the world. Starting to think Driskell is 1988 or torpedo or whatever his name is this week to try to skirt the ban.
Buddy’s diaper is ALL THE WAY full right now. It’s something to see.

Does anyone know what the DL/DE numbers look like for this class? Nana Osafo has 1 year left after this, Cross is out of years after 2023, Jean-Baptiste is gone after this year, Botelho has one more year after 2023 and so does Mills but he may go to the draft.
