Look, at this point, I don't think we need any more validation. Analysts can say what they want or need to say to keep their business going, but we have seen CJ compete on the field with the best of the best and come out near the top. And that's not even where his real strengths probably are, given he should probably really excel at the tactical side of the game given his heritage. And it doesn't include the "it" factor leadership multiple people have said really sticks out with him.

Pretty much where I'm at. He's shown that he's got all the physical tools to be a top tier QB recruit. That's not guarantee he'll be a top QB, because plenty of top camp guys flame out, but you need the physical tools as a baseline to be truly elite and he has them.

Remember yesterday I mentioned there are dudes there who aren’t associated with 247 or On3, etc, who thought Carr looked good day 1 & had him top 5…then turned out they were correct?
They raved about Carr’s performance last night & had him top 3.
I am not saying he is as good as Burrow, but I love Driskall's comp to him. Maybe no elite tools, but DUDE qualities

We've already got confirmation that the past comments on ND QB commits needing to be "Camp/7-on-7 Warriors" to get the ratings bumps that other top QB's get is bullshit. CJ Carr would be a consensus top-3, surefire 5-star on every service if that were true.

The reality is that an early QB commit for ND isn't a priority to move up in the rankings, because if he's solid, there are no national clicks to be had by moving him. They save that for the uncommitted guys, or the guys that are committed/involved with the major football factories as a means of generating business, which just wouldn't be there in the same way for an ND guy.

On the flip side, if they slowly DROP a top-rated ND QB commit, they know the team-specific boards and sites are going to see a bump in traffic that is greater than if the same guy stays the same or moves up to where he should be.

Maybe that's cynical, and maybe I still just hold on to certain things as an abused ND fan for too long... but the proof seems to be pretty clear in this case for once.

If ANY committed QB recruit should be generating buzz and rising up the rankings because of his camp/7v7 performances, it should be a dude with Lloyd Carr's last name that's committed to one of scUM's biggest rivals.

You can bet your ass he'd be the hottest ticket on the market if he went the legacy route and were tearing it up as a scUM commit.

TL;DR

Listen to @SouthSideChiDomer and @greyhammer90 and don't let the recruiting "experts" get you jazzed up. It doesn't matter at this point, because we know what we need to know about CJ Carr, regardless of some arbitrary ranking that is affected by all three of business, politics, AND the personal feelings of grown men with major biases on full display.

Ivins and Power going to keep being themselves.

Ivins has Carr 5th, but Davis 6th after Day 2.

He thinks Carr didn’t have a good day 1? And somehow Davis is top 6? Davis isn’t anywhere near the top 11 after Day 2.

Power has Carr 5th, but has him behind Grunk, who struggled yesterday.

I really don’t see how they don’t have CJ top 3?

Sadly some want to win recruiting titles.
I don't think anyone really cares about whether CJ Carr finishes with 4 stars or 5 stars, if he's a *dude* that can help bring us a title then that's what's important. We can still recognize the patterns of recruiting "experts" as it relates to ND and call it out if it deserves calling out.

Through day two Andrew Ivins has Jadyn Davis as number #6 overall despite every else saying he had a bad day, Ivins is such a joke.

I know when he was the main guy for Miami's 247 site, he was constantly ridiculed for his "evals" and parroting others' news as if it were his own.

I actually think of Dante Moore committed to ND he’s likely would not have slid down watching the rankings. I do believe most of the analysts believe Dante Moore was a top three quarterback solidly for last year’s class.

Too bad they were not able to close him.

Fuck Charles Power.

He went on about Raiola looking the best, never mentioned Carr, & they had the exact same score.
And what’s that garbage about his arm not having as much juice?
Dude is just looking for reasons to keep Carr 193rd.
Raiola is a fucking dude though. This QB class is not really an off year. Noland and Lagway are really great too. CJ is a legit Top 5 in this class.

Raiola can be a dude & he can still acknowledge Carr being one too.
Raiola actually struggled Day 1 & they never brought that up.
Carr was every bit as good as Raiola last night.

I was talking specifically about *early* QB commits.

Dante was basically the last QB domino to fall, even when ND thought they were about to secure his commitment, so there was no reason for 247 or anyone else to drop him in favor of pumping another QB at that point.

I don’t care if he doesn’t get a 5th star, I just think he should get one if he’s top 3 in this event and has a great senior year.

There is a small bit of perception is reality to it too. If we have a “5 star QB” in the class, everyone wants to be part of that class. Keeping him a 4 star may not impact recruiting much, but it might have brought a little more attention to the class and thus a bandwagon effect.

Doesn’t likely mean squat, but we all like to rally around our own guys.
