He’s doing the bow-and-arrow thing too much

I actually thought that too at first, but I actually think it was one time from 2 or 3 different camera angles. The first time he's looking straight into the camera and then later on it's from behind but you can see him doing it right at another camera person.

Maybe as a sophomore in high school. Going into his senior year a lot of the hype had faded. He was pretty terrible in the elite 11. Mechanics were already all screwed up, he was never the prospect Carr is
Buchner was hurt his JR year in HS. He lost momentum. I really like some of Driskell's analysis but he went all unhappy when I said TB got hurt in HS. Like in total denial. Buchner will get hurt as a starter as he takes direct hits.

He was hurt his sophomore year. Here is an article from Driskell about Buchner with his junior stats-

2019 Stats: 4,474 passing yards, 1,610 rushing yards, 53 passing touchdowns, 28 rushing touchdowns

Buchner was a high four-star. A 97 on 247 composite, a Top 100 recruit and the #11 QB in a loaded class. I don't know if that makes him a "stud" or not but he's certainly blessed with natural talent. Enough that we chose him over JJ McCarthy.
And yes it was his sophomore year he was hurt, and his senior year lost to COVID. Junior year he lit it up.

Buchner was a 5 star when ND chose him over JJ McCarthy, and had offers from everyone. Watch his sophomore tape and you’ll see 5 star talent.

Carr’s ranking is funny on multiple fronts.

The obvious in Charles Powers at On3 having him 193 and the 12 QB.
Powers saw one game, Carr’s worst game, as his evidence. Nevermind everything Carr has done. Reminds me of the Rivals idiot who saw Hamilton play once, said he looked like everyone else on the field, & gave him a 5.5

But let’s discuss another site.
Some sites live & die off camp performances & 7v7.
Carr dominates the 7v7 circuit, scores a TD on every drive he plays, including the game winning TD in the Final, winning the title, & only throws 2 incompletions in two days. Wins MVP.
Them wins MVP at Elite 11 Regional Final, Alpha Dog at another, and is favorite at Elite 11 Finals.
But stays the same on On3 (193), moves up only 1 spot on 247 (38 to 37), & drops 3 spots on Rivals (18 to 21).
Other QBs skyrocket up the rankings with performances Carr put on.

I apologize for this question, but out of curiosity and in an effort not to sift through 64 pages, can someone tell me why/how Notre Dame was able to get Carr to commit over Michigan?
  • Did Carr want to do his own thing and not want to play before his grandfather's legacy?
  • Did he want a change of scenery from Saline/Ann Arbor?
  • Does Michigan have another quarterback recruit already committed or was Michigan not showing enough interest?
  • Did he really connect with Freeman and/or not click with Harbaugh?
Regardless of the above, Chad certainly has made the correct decision.;)

Also, more importantly, I just read about CJ's brother, Chad. If you have a box of tissues, I suggest you grab them and check out the "ChadTough" foundation. As a father of two young ones, this was a tough read. I encourage you all to donate a few extra bucks, if able. I am.

If I remember correctly:

Yes, always had wanted to do his own thing.
Yes, always wanted to get out of Ann Arbor (kind of have to to achieve point one).
No.
Not sure.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm always interested in "legacies" and their choices.

I’ve been trying to find coverage of the Elite 11 & one thing that is annoying me is Charles Powers from On3 keeps mentioning CJ Carr as the 5th ranked QB in the country & borderline 5 Star.

You, Charles Powers, rank CJ as the 12th QB & the 193rd ranked player in the country.
If not for your dumbass, CJ would be a top 25 player nationally & a 5 Star.

Stop using the composite to cover your horrible evaluation & ranking.

Also, I’ve listened to both the On3 & 247 previews, and they are setting CJ up for a fall.
They both talk about how the “expect” CJ to perform well in this event.
So basically, if he does well, no big deal, not moving him up. But if he slips up, down he goes.

I mean Carr should shine at the camps if he's a 5 star. He doesnt have a mahomes level arm or 4.4 speed that he wouldnt be able to show off at a camp setting. Accuracy is his thing.

If he does well On3 will look foolish not raising him.

He showed it all summer so far.
Won the MVP at the 7v7 championship event, won Alpha dog at the Elite 11 Regional, then didn’t move up the rankings.
It’s like there is nothing he can do.

Rankings are overrated! It's plain and simple .... they are no more that s barometer based on "opinions"!
