On3 has had some really bad rankings in their short life, but CJ's ranking has to be up there as one of the most bafflingly awful. How they think there are 11 QB's better than this kid is beyond me.

They're seriously giving ESPN's recruiting service a run for their money in terms of ineptitude.
Agreed. CJ has Star-like charisma.

Just think if he was a Bama or UGA commit where his ranking would be.

Total stud….

Mike Singer defending On3's rankings in the most recent pod was pretty cringe. He's so God awful.

Rivals has Carr 18th overall but dropped him four spots.

Kind of see it coming that he'll fall further but not really bothered by it to be totally honest.

I personally feel a lot better about getting Carr instead of Sayin than ending up with Buchner instead of McCarthy.

And that's not a swipe at Buchner, he's a high ceiling prospect.

At the time they took Buch, I thought he was the better prospect.

At the time they took Carr I wanted Sayin more. Some of that might have been because of the pizazz of getting the kid from Cali that was tearing up social media with his off platform throws and side arm specials. But, I think Carr is the better prospect. Better NFL tools, IMO.

I don’t think it’s justifiable to have CJ outside the top 50, however I can get the “upside” argument that prevents him from being a consensus five star. if he’s not an incredibly productive college QB, I’ll be very surprised.

Kid's a high end talent. I'm just as excited by the leadership component hel seems to have. From coordinating visits, being a part of an elite 7 on 7 unit with some ND prospects, to recruiting studs to play with him.
And anyone else see the uncanny Paul Walker resemblance? That'll play well in the nil era.

Hopefully this Carr doesn't crash and burn....

Too soon?

He probably be high ranked if he was takin the NIL bag and talking about OSU, UGA, Clemson and scUM - all of which would gladly take him.

Instead this leader is going against the bag and his family’s legacy to be at ND.

Therefore he needs to be penalized. Sounds logical.

On3 is 100% invested in pushing NIL and “exclusives”… they are a total joke, and very transparent about where their motivations lie.

ND not being in one of the major conferences doesn’t help w these so called national recruiting websites.

If ND was even back in the ACC, CJ would be viewed akin to Clemson’s Cade Klubnick - a recent 5 star QB.

Yep.

I'm not going to sit here and say Carr has the most upside or is a flat out top 10 overall player, but there is zero reason that Jayden Davis is a top 30 overall player while this dude is barely in the top 200. Film to film, upside to upside, it's Carr every single time.

What’s not to like about Carr’s upside? Good arm. He’s not a midget. Mobile enough.

If he's as good as we all think he is, who cares what Carr is ranked? If anything, being a little underrated will keep some of the NIL vultures off his tail.

Unfortunately, a lot of people care about rankings. And it all trickles down back into the recruiting process. You look at Top 50 players and WRs - they and their advisors care about rankings.

CJ Carr is clearly not another Angeli or Minchey but if these recruiting services keep pushing him down lower, that may become where perception becomes reality for some recruits and that would be most unfortunate. Hype matters unfortunately.

Like you are alluding to, recruiting rankings matter more than just level of play.

As we all know, it's the clearest sign of program direction and opportunity to win a championship.

One thing that helps CJ is the 7 on 7. He is doing a competitive circuit. Ballers recognize ballers
