Because maybe the #1 NT in the country is actually considering others? Why would we just auto win a recruitment over Bama and OSU?
We’re got in on his recruiting extremely late.
And he’s in our backyard.

We weren't first to offer, but we weren't last either.

Iowa, Michigan & Wisconsin were the only big offers for him before ND offered in May. ND was offer number 13. Since ND's offer, USC, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Miami, A&M, Auburn and Alabama have all offered.

I just think he's not as focused on ND as people in the media have made us believe. He's a national prospect and he knows it.

He hasn't made a trip to campus for a game this season, but has made trips to Ohio State, Michigan & Miami. He's not expected to be at the BC game, so no visits for a gameday this fall. Considering he's only about a two hour drive, it's puzzling.
Thanks - you would think St Igmatius is a de facto ND feeder school lol

Yes, it's odd. It's a college prep school so academics are a priority. And the obvious fact it is a private, Jesuit school too. ND has actually done better getting players out of St. Ignatius in Cleveland than Chicago.

That would be the one.
This is only the second elite team they played this year. The other one was Mount Carmel and they lost 41-17. The lower tier of the Catholic league was not very strong this year. Even the playoff teams they played so far were good but not elite.

I'm going to agree with all you've just said because it is true.

What territory does Al Golden cover? As a DC and with a kid being 2 hours from campus you'd want to recruit this kid more.

St. Ignatius lost to PR 21-19. PR now plays East St. Louis and for that I do not envy them.

They're not really even a school you think of secondarily when it comes to Chicago Catholic League football but they put together a nice season.

I guess if anyone just assumes Scott should be coming to Notre Dame, that's their own business, but I'd like to be the first to congratulate those people on just now starting to follow recruiting and all of the ins and outs of how it works.

I don't assume it, but ND needs him and should get him.

Might as well have just confirmed we’re out with that lol
Agreed. Said it in another thread but all the beat reporters have been less than subtle on this is a nil no chance situation.

I guess some of you guys would prefer RKG recruiting? Some ND-Iowa battles? That’ll get us over the hump.

If his Top 5 was Bama, ND, Michigan, OSU and USC then whatever.

Oregon, Miami and Colorado inclusions are a sign of a player likely valuing things other than being really good at football. It is certainly not the layup Chicago Catholic school recruitment it was pegged as before we had more info.

Ever since the fall, nothing Scott says or does makes me think we land him. Would love to, I seriously doubt they do though.

I agree! Maybe this recruit is the wrong thread for me to make that post in, but I suspect this is gonna be a common theme in 2024 top 8s/12s/20s whatever. We’re gonna see a lot of the U, A&M, Colorado, and Oregon unfortunately. ND is going to have to win some of those battles. They did this past cycle.

Sure but Scott rarely mentions academics and the close to home thing has been tossed out the window. He also didn’t visit all fall.

Pretty undeniable signs.
