Real or not we saw plenty of parents like Kelly over the last decade haha. Plenty of parents of the current roster I’m sure. Scott has also not visited almost any schools so it’s not like Mom has a ton to compare to. Some Keeley angst getting unloaded

Back to Scott. Brian Kelly should not hijack his thread or any other for that matter.

Pretty good praise since he's only a junior. Note that Lightfoot is way up the list too.

I know a lot of people that know BK and knew him long before he got to ND. I knew Jeff Quinn. I won’t say too much more but I coached Jeff’s kids. Quinn was likable. Maybe Quinn liked Kelly, I’m not sure. Kelly is kind of a dick from what everyone has said and I believe them bc I know them well. I can’t say the guys I know hated him, but he wasn’t a lovable guy in any way. If he’s coming off that way to mom, it’s fake.
25ish kids a year for a decade came to ND so I don't think it really matters if it's fake or not.

None of this recruiting seems to matter much at all because Alabama can wait 15 months before getting them on campus and paying them off.
Signing day remains the only relevant day. Even that’s a joke now.

Agreed. If Notre Dame isn’t going to play the NIL game the way schools like Bama do, it’s a waste of time to care about five-star verbal commitments. They may as well not be committed until signing day if everyone’s got an uncle we didn’t know about.

I had interactions with BK.
Multiple players & GA’s of his over the years have trained with me.
He’s not a dick at all. He just runs things from a CEO perspective, which many people don’t realize, is how a lot of successful coaches run things. He got along with players & families just fine. He wasn’t their best friend, but guess what, they didn’t want to be his best friend.
His sense of humor is just off & not for everyone. And he is just easily annoyed, and I 100% get it, by people who don’t know 1% of football as him questioning every little thing he does.
He knew college football was a business before most did, & he just treats it that way. As ND fans, it’s hard to deal with, but whatever.
Can’t rewrite history though. He turned ND around with that approach.

And bc of that, we simply cannot expect MF to win a title. His hands are tied. As hard as that is for all ND fans to accept. The media and university likes to sell us on that potential so they can continue to generate excitement and thus revenue for themselves and the companies that sell merchandise certainly want us to think that. The vast majority of fans don’t follow recruiting close enough to understand the gap. Finishing #6 or #7 on signing day might look better than #9 or #10 like BK, but it’s not going to translate to beating Georgia and Bama back to back in playoff games to win a title. Keon and the dozens of other Keons are simply better than the guys we get to sign.

I've said it before, get away from a signing day. Sign whenever you want. Want out? Transfer. Doesn't matter when you sign, it's considered your one free transfer. Make the commitment worth something at least.

Not a bad idea IF they would've implemented it back at the time that they implemented the "One-time free transfer" rule. It would've been viewed totally different. We'll give everyone a free transfer ..... but we are implementing a new "signing rule". Sign it whenever you want, you back out of your signing, you are using your one-time free transfer.

You try to implement it now, it's just viewed as taking something away from "vulnerable" recruits who could be manipulated to commit and sign on a visit.

Absolutely. If they implemented it now, it would have to be for a future class. They'd literally have to say "Class of '25 can sign whenever they want. Under 18, get a parent or guardian need to sign as well. If you want out of the signing, it is your one free transfer. No special cases, no sick grandmothers."

Visited Miami and OSU so far this year.

“The things I normally look for are the atmosphere, fan base, coaching staff”

Sounds like this is gonna be more a legit football powerhouse battle rather than the kid from Ignatius is a ND layup handicap it started as.

This one seemed like a lock for ND. He is now a 5*? I thought he dropped in the rankings??

Washington & Golden going to have to battle the big boys for this one.

This young man is the anchor of a very good defense. They absolutely pulverized my ND Dons last week in the quarterfinals.

They face a very high powered offense in Prairie Ridge on Saturday in the semifinals and the winner likely gets East St. Louis in the 6A Final in Champaign.

Looking forward to seeing Scott on the big stages here.

He hasn't made a trip to campus for a game this season, but has made trips to Ohio State, Michigan & Miami. He's not expected to be at the BC game, so no visits for a gameday this fall. Considering he's only about a two hour drive, it's puzzling.
