Not sure why we can't blame Washington and Feeeman here, everyone was quick to throw Rees under the bus for a similar situation.
I think the blame was more about how they handled the QB situation when it was obvious that Dante was stringing them along. They basically put all of their eggs into the basket of someone who kept flaking on when he'd go public. It's not Tommy or Freeman's fault that other schools were throwing big bags at Dante. They can't control that.

What Washington does deserve criticism for, however, is blowing the Jason Moore recruitment down the stretch and not finishing. If/when Scott commits to a big NIL school (Bama, Miami, Oregon, etc.) then Washington doesn't deserve any criticism because he can't control who offers Scott a lot of money. If Scott somehow commits to a school like Michigan or even OSU that isn't playing the game that Oregon, Miami, and Bama are playing then he'll deserve plenty of criticism.

Am I missing something. What do they have to do with Justin Scott? Are they his replacement?

I just found the suggestion of let’s start blaming Freeman for defensive recruiting funny as multiple prospects book visits.

The problem is outside of Justin Scott there really isn't good DT guys out there who we lead for most of the big boys are right in Bama's and Georgias back yard

They're for conversation too. I'm looking for a real response.

Right now we're blaming Freeman and Washington for this player naming ND as part of his top eight schools. It's kind of funny
Who’s blaming Washington? If anything, we’re blaming Notre Dame’s opinion on what NIL should be and saying it’s likely out of Washington’s hands if he misses on him.

Driskell licking his chops to blame this on Al Washington when the kid clearly wants the bag.
Both can be true and I fear are
Lotta blame in Washington's direction here, but we're a hat on the table of a kid presumably chasing the bag. How is that AW's fault? Can't blame him for not landing kids like this, but we can blame him if he doesn't have a plan 1B.
Yeah there is no excuses on this one, We jumped in on a very good local kid way too late. We let way to many other schools get involved before we made an offer.

I suppose I'm not entirely sure, but there is some reference here going back to when this top eight was released. The replies are all from yesterday and today referencing it.

I really don't know. Seemed like everyone started getting bent about this one a few months ago. I'm confused myself as to what it is people expect should be done. His Rivals profile shows he's visited ND twice and a couple of other schools once.

Otherwise, yes, we're Once again back to the same discussion about how badly Notre Dame is supposed to be throwing millions of dollars to high school kids who have never played a down or not.

I think missing on Scott is a loss for sure. He was an ND lean for the longest time. St Ignatius kid.... good academics at an elite school. This is the type of kid ND HAS TO GET.

Just shows that money talks.

I believe ND led after his initial visit, this has far more to do with us being one of his only visits and being EARLY, regardless of what Shaun thinks, rather than being chosen above others.

Look back in July, Scott’s Mom preferred ND and LSU because she liked BK. I said even then well he hasn’t been on many visits so not really much to compare to.

Similar to how Michigan was second for Jeremiyah Love for some time, it was almost by proxy of not having yet visited other places.

Justin Scott was a ND lean and had visited over the summer with his Mom. Originally it was Iowa, ND, and Wisconsin and he stated he wanted to stay close to home. He even told a story on an interview that his mom told him ND was her favorite on one of his visits. There was legit reason On3 had him favored to ND. He said in the interview that he's from Georgia and was a Georgia fan growing up but his Mom wants him close to home. Not sure if GA offered or not, but they're not in his top 8 currently. The influx of NIL schools are a concern for me but Michigan, OSU, and ND shows that proximity is also a consideration. Let's wait to see where he officials.

His mom said nice things about ND and he's from St Ignatius. Nothing else he has done indicated ND lean at any point.

Right after the Cal game, he was talking about how stadium atmosphere is one of the most important factors for him. He wasn't at the game, but it was a bit of a joke how dead the atmosphere was for that one. You could tell other coaches were just negging ND and he was eating it up. Knew at that point this was over.

You think other coaches saw the atmosphere at the Cal game and decided to neg ND with it, even though he wasn’t even there?

Just making the offer doesn’t mean they were recruiting him early enough. If they made the offer on May 5th, but didn’t contact him for 3 months, they’re still late on his recruitment.!

I would call that an ND Lean. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure most stadiums' atmospheres would be dead if your team was 0-2 and coming off a loss to Marshall and were playing like absolute crap.

The Clemson game atmosphere, on the other hand, was electric.

I just think it's amusing that "leading" or being a "lean" is based on nothing other than feelings, maybe some words and innuendo coming from people who make a living peddling "news" about recruiting. Honestly, when are people going to learn that nothing means anything outside of pen to paper? An entire market where adults pay $99 a year for "premium" content has been created predicated on this.

These feelings and words lead to grown adults having feelings and making more words about how desperately they want these high school children to come to the football team they support. Then when this doesn't happen, consequences and accountability have to be administered or else. You simply can't miss on a can't miss.

This was over the moment the majority of people here saw the word Saint in front of his high school and the pin on the map where he lives was Chicago. You control your own assumptions and emotions in life.

I’m a little confused. I looked at all the sites and didn’t see where anyone else leads. On3 shows that we lead. Please let me know what am I missing? Where is he leaning if not ND?
