Did Wiltfong elaborate on his CB?
Way too early to freak here, imo. Given how this recruitment has played out to this point, I'd expect several more swings back and forth. No need to ride those waves fellas. For everyone freaking out, he is being visited by the staff today so do not be surprised to see things flip back towards being positive for the good guys.
Why not Umeh? I know he missed the blue gold game but he feels like a natural. Usually it’s us or Michigan for the African-Canadian boarding school types.Landing umeh is much less likely than landing Scott imo
Nothing against Tom Loy, but didn't he put in 8 CB's in one day in January? Pierce (oops), Smith twins (nope), Prescod (maybe), Dorian Brew (who knows), Scott (who can tell), Tae (doesn't look like it), and someone else I can't recall. That is not much of a batting average. I am just not sure who knows what from the beat writers these days, and not sure how much we can look at what they print as overly valuable. Seems that the Gug is pretty hush on what is going on with recruiting and it seems like recruiting is taking on a different look these days. They don't seem to be pushing for early commitments. The DL and WR recruiting seem to have taken 180's from who we thought they would get to who they will get. (or maybe a 160, since Cam and Bryce seem to be locked in.)
Both Reeses were Loy sources I believe. Freeman supposedly is running a really tight ship as far as leaks go, so this is a fair question.Loy seems like a nice guy, but now that Tommy is gone is it fair to ask if he has any decent sources left within the program?
IMO it seems like he's more of a recruit source type guy, based on his framing of tweets it seems very much like the "hello fellow kids" meme format. Of course, this is an amateur analysis so I have no idea. I think it would explain his 0-100 nature of making spur of the moment predictions.Loy seems like a nice guy, but now that Tommy is gone is it fair to ask if he has any decent sources left within the program?
TBH when it comes to recruiting reporting I would - in most cases - trust the players/families/HS coaches more than I'd trust the coaching staffs anyway. The players are the ones actually making the decisions here.IMO it seems like he's more of a recruit source type guy, based on his framing of tweets it seems very much like the "hello fellow kids" meme format. I really hope this is the case. He is a first time HC in a high profile gig with a young and promising staff. They really don't need the drama. Both Reeses were Loy sources I believe. Freeman supposedly is running a really tight ship as far as leaks go, so this is a fair question.
Where I'm at I don't think any of these 5-star caliber guys... whether it's Dante Moore, Peyton Bowen, Keeley, etc.... end up actually signing with ND unless NIL changes. I don't even necessarily care whether we get verbal commitments. I'm much less interested in recruiting than I used to be because between NIL and the insta-eligibility portal who the hell knows what your team is going to look like year to year. For everyone freaking out, he is being visited by the staff today so do not be surprised to see things flip back towards being positive for the good guys.
Kind of where I'm at. I used to live on the boards but it's pointless now. Might as well just wait till the actual games start. I can't even imagine being a basketball fan at this point.Where I'm at I don't think any of these 5-star caliber guys... whether it's Dante Moore, Peyton Bowen, Keeley, etc.... end up actually signing with ND unless NIL changes. Exactly which is why I think the staff has tried to target lower ranked guys with high upside. Like Mullins for example. These 5 star kids are going to be hard to get when they are getting promised millions upfront or brand new cars and who knows what else. With the gossip girl gone and no one on the beat has a clue what is going on anymore, I am shocked there are so many people that still pay for premium boards. I got rid of my last subscription after Bowen pulled his clown show on signing dayBingo.
I am resigned to looking at the two deep on Friday before Saturday game days now. The rest is all cake and watermelon for website charging people to read their "premium" gossip about high school boys.
Logan Diggs was really the last straw for me.
I'm one who still thinks we can be a top-tier/CFP-level program without reeling in ALL the five-stars, but not if also our second-string guys are just going to jump someplace else to be higher on the depth chart. If we can't NIL our way to elite recruits we have to be able to develop elite college football players over three or four years. If we can't do either of those things, we're fucked.Where I'm at I don't think any of these 5-star caliber guys... whether it's Dante Moore, Peyton Bowen, Keeley, etc.... end up actually signing with ND unless NIL changes. Fiscal responsibility.Nice to know our free message board will still be visited by you though.
Isn't this the exact same recruiting arc that BK had?Exactly which is why I think the staff has tried to target lower ranked guys with high upside. Like Mullins for example. I don't understand why we don't think any 5 star will sign with us due to NIL. Lots of other schools have expressed similar strategies as ND. All of the Big 10, including OSU, have indicated publicly that they are taking a "no money up front but you'll get paid well" position.
If they struggle with 5* kids then I think their strategy should be to target as many kids in the 100-350 range as possible. Based on last year's class and who they targeted, I think they're doing that.Isn't this the exact same recruiting arc that BK had?
It's not that no five-stars will ever sign with us because NIL. Carr seems solid, for instance. But when you start seeing visits to Miami, Tennessee, A&M, Oregon - by kids who are not geographic fits to those schools - you start to think they're shopping for something we're not selling. And that's a lot of these guys right now.I don't understand why we don't think any 5 star will sign with us due to NIL. Lots of other schools have expressed similar strategies as ND. Remember when Loy put in like 10 CBs at once earlier this year and now they’re almost all committed somewhere else or trending away?Loy seems like a nice guy, but now that Tommy is gone is it fair to ask if he has any decent sources left within the program?
