Nothing against Tom Loy, but didn't he put in 8 CB's in one day in January? Pierce (oops), Smith twins (nope), Prescod (maybe), Dorian Brew (who knows), Scott (who can tell), Tae (doesn't look like it), and someone else I can't recall. That is not much of a batting average. I am just not sure who knows what from the beat writers these days, and not sure how much we can look at what they print as overly valuable. Seems that the Gug is pretty hush on what is going on with recruiting and it seems like recruiting is taking on a different look these days. They don't seem to be pushing for early commitments. The DL and WR recruiting seem to have taken 180's from who we thought they would get to who they will get. (or maybe a 160, since Cam and Bryce seem to be locked in.)

Loy's CB are notoriously fleeting and fickle. His CBs often shouldn't be given too much attention unless you know the kid is about to announce in the near future.

Both Reeses were Loy sources I believe. Freeman supposedly is running a really tight ship as far as leaks go, so this is a fair question.

IMO it seems like he's more of a recruit source type guy, based on his framing of tweets it seems very much like the "hello fellow kids" meme format. Of course, this is an amateur analysis so I have no idea. I think it would explain his 0-100 nature of making spur of the moment predictions.

TBH when it comes to recruiting reporting I would - in most cases - trust the players/families/HS coaches more than I'd trust the coaching staffs anyway. The players are the ones actually making the decisions here.

Where I'm at I don't think any of these 5-star caliber guys... whether it's Dante Moore, Peyton Bowen, Keeley, etc.... end up actually signing with ND unless NIL changes. I don't even necessarily care whether we get verbal commitments. I'm much less interested in recruiting than I used to be because between NIL and the insta-eligibility portal who the hell knows what your team is going to look like year to year.

Logan Diggs was really the last straw for me.

I'm one who still thinks we can be a top-tier/CFP-level program without reeling in ALL the five-stars, but not if also our second-string guys are just going to jump someplace else to be higher on the depth chart. If we can't NIL our way to elite recruits we have to be able to develop elite college football players over three or four years. If we can't do either of those things, we're fucked.

If they struggle with 5* kids then I think their strategy should be to target as many kids in the 100-350 range as possible. Based on last year's class and who they targeted, I think they're doing that.

It's not that no five-stars will ever sign with us because NIL. Carr seems solid, for instance. But when you start seeing visits to Miami, Tennessee, A&M, Oregon - by kids who are not geographic fits to those schools - you start to think they're shopping for something we're not selling. And that's a lot of these guys right now.

He is the Peyton Bowen of the 2024 class. I think Bowen strung ND along and knew all along he was going to Oklahoma. This is one ND should win because of location and Washington just visited him.

I want him apart of the class, but I wonder how much he is doing what Bowen did.

With college football's easy way out transfer portal and the NIL bullshit, what Les Miles said about Gunner Kiel "not having the chest" makes total sense (to the newbies of the board go do a Google search on that).

Remember when Loy put in like 10 CBs at once earlier this year and now they’re almost all committed somewhere else or trending away?
