He made a comment about adding weight in that interview that gives me some pause. Something about how adding weight has always been an issue.

We'll see how it goes for the kid, but he needs to add some significant weight to be a factor in a couple years.

We got 2 linemen on our roster than may not be able to put on the weight to play at this level

Everyone is different. Joe Alt was 222 lbs as a hs Jr. Time for Landow to go to work.

It sounds like they are grooming him for center, not LT, so not sure weight is as big a concern. But--at the back of my OL class--I would still rather take athletic kids and see if they can put on the weight, than huge kids who can't move well.

We're not talking about him going from 290 and needing to get up to 310

He's at 266, at absolute minimum he needs to put on 25lbs of good weight and not lose athleticism. It just reminds me of Zeke situation. Despite how much zeke played, he did NOT play good.

It very well may end up being a Zeke situation, but he's got time.

Now, there could be some fibbing going on, but his HS strength coach was interviewed by one of the outlets, and had said he had gotten up to 282 by the start of Knapps senior season.

I wouldn't put much thought into the players weights right now. And that applies to all of them. It's pretty common for some players to lose weight as the season goes on, or after.

I'd put more thought into the weights at fall camp.

How does everyone feel about him possibly being the starting LT?

Worried and excited, at the same time. They’re not going to throw a true frosh out there if he isn’t ready.

I’m excited because if he’s as good as the reports say he is, this allows Jagusah to slide inside to guard (his best position).

Tosh has just not played well given his opportunities. I'm glad he's getting beat out at RT and now LT, but that doesn't mean that we'll be very good there. I sure hope so, but it's a wait and see for me.

I'm excited because I think ND could go 2 deep next year on the OL we have a lot of young talent.

He's always been my perceived test case for Joe Rudolph evals. Was on him really early (his first big offer when at VT) offered and committed to ND right after he was hired.

Seems to be developing a lot faster than anyone thought, was just listed at like 260lbs not long ago, hoping he's great! But wouldn't feel great if he was at LT snap 1 at A&M.

If the coaches feel he is at the same level as Baker, they should try him out. Week 1 against A&M is going to be struggle with their DL anyways, but if Knapp brings more long term, it’s the right decision to give him the nod.

Come to think of it, if Knapp starts we will probably have the shortest combination of tackles of any ranked team.
We had short QBs with tall Oline, now we're getting some taller QBs and shortening our oline.... What the "Deuce"! I mean good "knight".

Nobody is talking about Pendleton at guard possibly

Eh, calling Knapp "short" is a stretch (pun intended).

Dude's only 6'4, but if you see him in action and in pictures, dude has CRAZY long arms.

Measuring length for tackles is like measuring length for hoops players.

Kevin McHale wasn't anything special at 6'9 for a PF, but the dude had an 8'0! wingspan. Dude out there with longer arms than monster centers Hakeem, Shaq and Wilt!

Wingspan trumps pure height every time.

Not to say I'm not concerned. He's a freshman, and only 290. That's certainly not ideal, especially when considering he's going to be lined up next to a guard who also seemingly hasn't started yet either in Pendleton. But they're obviously doing that for a reason.

Not only long arms but exceptionally quick feet for Knapp.
