I think it’s a solid comp with the caveat that I think KVA is a better athlete.

Sewell going from top 15 in his class to 5th round pick means he was overrated as a prospect. And my opinion would be it’s because they overlooked his lack of movement skills. I think KVA has better bend, speed, change of direction, etc.

Kelly is the winningest coach of all time at Notre Dame. He turned LSU around in one season with its stringent recruiting requirements and lack of reputation as an elite program. Look at the lack of five stars at ND. Freeman has to figure this NIL thing out. Charles Power doesn’t have Carr as a 5 star so he isn’t a consensus 5 star. ND won’t recruit well until it hires better coaches. Shopping down a better aisle? Kelly had a bad OC who couldn’t coach his QBs up. Freeman took a top 5 program that Kelly built up and lost to Marshall and Stanford. Freeman should have gotten a qb in the portal last year. Freeman is a newb coach. Go Irish.

There's so many of these guys out there, that there's always going to be someone who disagrees. Remove the top and bottom ratings and what's his rating? Besides, these guys don't bat a thousand and who cares if he's consensus if he plays like Manti?

I kind of see it like David Shaw at Stanford after Harbaugh left. Had a bunch of great years, kept the momentum going, but really started to fall off towards the end.

I don't think we'll see Ryan Day hit that level simply because he is a good coach, but the comparison is there.

To be fair & unbiased, just go watch film of the kids ranked 20-26 and it’s night & day difference.
