So, back to watching LBs ranked above KVA by On3…

Cole Sullivan. Ranked 19th LB, so 8 spots ahead of KVA.

I watched Sullivan’s tape when ND passed on him & I wasn’t impressed at all.

How Charles Power ranks Cole Sullivan 8 LBs spots ahead of KVA is maddening.

KVA is a top 100 kid, who is probably top 50.
Sullivan is an unranked low 4 Star to 3 Star kid.
All three other sites have Sullivan a 3 Star.

These are the rankings overall & LB by the three other sites, compared to On3 for KVA & Sullivan:

KVA
247 87 (9)
ESPN 157 (11)
Rivals 35 (3)

On3 Unranked (27)

Sullivan
247 3 Star (59)
ESPN 3 Star (33)
Rivals 3 Star (39)

On3 256 (19)

This is common with about 15 LBs On3 ranks above KVA.
I’m just familiar with Sullivan’s tape, so when I saw Power had him ranked way above KVA, I shit a brick.

Yikes. You wouldn't need to spend a lot of time watching film, either.
KVA looks like he could be a college junior. Sullivan will need to work to report in January over 200lbs. Kid looked rail thin in the last pictures i saw of him.

Rivals is the only one of the three main services that is even remotely credible at this moment.

I will say, Power and On3 get a majority of the flak (granted, they certainly deserve the flak), but 247 has been arguably worse.

Power has the egregious rankings of Carr and KVA that stand out. 247 has FOURTEEN of ND's commits rated as a 3-star and 16 of them aren't ranked. Seeing guys like Bryce Young, Cole Mullins, Leonard Moore and others rated that insanely low is atrocious.

KVA committing dropped our classes on3 ranking. Tells you all you need to know about that site and it's rankings.

Power isn’t good at his job.

Ivins, at 247, hates ND & will purposely lower ND commits.
Fans always think there is a bias towards their team, but in this case, it’s a real thing. Ivins is purposely dropping ND commits. If you look at the rankings when he took over, he has dropped all the ND commits.
It’s bullshit he is allowed to do that, when he used to openly talk about his hatred for ND & ND fans and said it was fun for to watch ND fans get upset.

I really don't see the concern for DT.

We'll have veteran experience coming back next season. And from the group of Houstan, Vernon, Mukam, Young, and Sevillano I feel quite confident we're going to get at least a couple of good ones.

These DT’s need a lot of seasoning. Would prefer to have 2 a year.

We need another good dt recruit. Say an Owen Wafle type.

Plus, this staff has shown a pretty good feel for the portal. We need to see some results, of course, but early returns on how they target guys, and the rate at which they land portal targets, seems pretty good thus far.

If you don't fill up the freshman class, you fill the hole with a veteran the next cycle.

(My lack of recruiting stress these days may be because I'm getting old; may be because the portal has ruined college football... not totally sure)

I'll add that Devan Houstan is listed at 6'4, 287. Vernon is listed at 6'4, 250. Mukam is listed at 6'4, 250. Bryce Young is said to be 6'5+, 250+. And Sevillano is said to be over 300 lbs right now.

I would be more surprised if at least of couple of them did not grow into DT's.

We have to keep in mind what Defense ND wants to run moving forward.
It seems like they want on 300+ LBS kid per class, to clog up the middle.
And length around that on the DL, with fast LBS.

And I always try to look at classes in two year groupings because that’s who plays together.

Take the 23 & 24 classes, & you can put together a pretty good 2 deep on defense.

You talking next year as in 24? Could lose cross and mills … that’s a huge loss vs those behind them

Goolsby says he will be “shocked if KVA doesn’t start as a true freshman.” And he went on to say, “I truly mean that.” So, who does that mean he’s beating out if he’s starting inside linebacker vs TAMU?

Cross, basically, already confirmed he’s coming back.

Cross, Onye, and Rubio would be 3 guys that will have, likely, by that time starter level experience. Ford is a former top 100-150 prospect. Who will be a Junior. Donovan Hinish has shown flashes that he could be part of 10 DL rotation at some point. And that leaves out the possibility that highly ranked prospects will be ready to play as Sophomores.

Serious question coming, and forgive me as ND recruiting has made me this way. What are the real odds he ends up signing? Like I'm dead ass serious are we at least 75% or could this be 50/50 to the finish line?

Probably 90%. NIL isn't a new factor for him how it was for the '23 class. Faith based commitment would be strange to pull out from.

Sounds super solid, thanks for the insight. I'm excited to see a player like this snub OSU for ND!
