We just had a pretty good oneHe's 6'4 already 212 kinda heavy for a safety. You don't see many safetys that are 6'4

Let's start with an easy one - Kyle Hamilton, you've heard of him right? Have you heard of Nick Emmanwori? Check him out. How about Caleb Downs, he's 205. The NFL data is public information, and you can see that there are plenty of safetys who carry around ~210.He's 6'4 already 212 kinda heavy for a safety. You don't see many safetys that are 6'4
I thought he looked slow as shit on his int return for a td against FSU. Thought it was a walk on.Especially not when you need safety help and dude can run like he does. Showing out on specials often leads to starting as an upperclassmen.
Long strider confirmed.I thought he looked slow as shit on his int return for a td against FSU. Thought it was a walk on.
Shuler and Stroman will start.100% starting opposite Shuler next year right?
Classic underdog story of which ND originally built its identity.![]()
First offered by Montana Tech, freshman Luke Talich turns Notre Dame walk-on into scholarship
This small Wyoming town stakes claim to its share of popular attractions. The Buffalo Bill Museum, the Cody Stampede and a proud high school sports tradition of its Cody Broncs and Fillies.www.montanasports.com
Pretty cool watch. Freeman is a real one.
Still think Talich will start and Stroman will be in the Rod Heard role.
Will circle back to this thread in September.
I don't think that'll be the case but I hope he proves me wrong. Talich lacks the speed needed to hold down a safety spot. I think he could be a special team ace but I expect Stroman, Smith, Shuler and Urlacher to be fighting for reps. The hard thing for all of us to determine is how rangy Urlacher, Stroman and Shuler are. I know Smith, Shuler and Urlacher will absolutely come downhill with bad intentions.Still think Talich will start and Stroman will be in the Rod Heard role.

I'm glad we are bringing in Stroman and Smith, but we are going to have a ton of young DB's hungry for snaps. Hobbs, Tae Johnson, Talich, Urlacher and then the 6 Freshman this might be the deepest the C/S room has been in a while.Yeah… Stroman will start with Schuler. Stroman needs to stay healthy though.
Nah. Stroman is NfL caliber safety.Still think Talich will start and Stroman will be in the Rod Heard role.

You are not wrong here at all. Mickens has been great at not only identifying talent but developing them quickly.I had this thought but then also considered Mickens probably will churn out a couple NFL safeties from the group Stroman is competing against
Johnson should be in the 2 deep if he isn’t starting next season.I don't think that'll be the case but I hope he proves me wrong. Talich lacks the speed needed to hold down a safety spot. Stroman and Smith have a lot of experience. Can Tae emerge as a sophomore like Shuler did this year? It's such a luxury to have healthy competition while remembering the days where anyone on the roster was auto 2-deep.
That is definitely not a problem for Talich. He's a blazer and one of the fastest guys on the team.Talich reminds me a lot of the guys we used to have starting on D. Very good in all facets, except lacking the next level speed as VDP mentioned.
Not with pads on. Watch his int return vs FSU. I initially thought it was walk-on. He was almost caught by their QB, Brock Glenn, who runs a 4.78 40. Glenn was significantly faster than Talich. That is definitely not a problem for Talich. He's a blazer and one of the fastest guys on the team.
Yea, it was odd and definitely slowest moving 10.7 guy I've seen on the field.I thought he looked slow as shit on his int return for a td against FSU. Thought it was a walk on.
The guy housed like an 80yd interception, not that slow to me.I thought he looked slow as shit on his int return for a td against FSU. Thought it was a walk on.
