Notre Dame can’t win in this environment. You can’t sincerely look at the teams playing the NIL game and then look at ND and think they have a real chance.

We’re essentially tied in the rankings with two Pay for Play Universities. I absolutely think we still have a chance to beat an Oregon. It’s just hurt our chances to catch Alabama and Georgia. They are a hinderance to catching the big dogs. They are not the big dog.

Notre Dame will be fine during these NIL days, TCU showed this year what can happen if you get a great QB on the field with some athletes. The problem is their may only be about 10 teams that can still win in this climate. ND is one, teams like Mich St or Pitt probably will never compete with the big boys going forward. Thank God ND has some tradition or they would legit get passed as well.

I know people are going to be pissed at his decision today but these major losses in recruiting are going to force NDs hand to stay competitive in the NIL game. They have been wait and see so far and it cost them arguably 3 five stars in one recruiting class. No way ND isn't going to take advantage sooner or later with all that wealth.

And the Portal? Buddy, when Freeman realizes he can’t win here and leaves, Notre Dame is *screwed* for at least 3-5 seasons after they lose a whole recruiting class, 30% of their roster and they aren’t allowed to replace any of them with transfers.
Yeah things so bad that ND signed it's best class in a decade

I’m sincerely not trying to be a jerk when I say this. I swear. But I’d be willing to bet you a crisp $1 bill that this pushes Notre Dame more in the other direction.

I think this is a big step in the direction of ND choosing not to play the big time CFB game anymore.

"God's Name, Image and Likeness."
Few people are not hypocritical in some way. Few people are also as blatantly hypocritical as Dabo crying about NIL, when New Spring Church was an integral component to Clemson's recruiting success.

I think we dodged a bullet with Moore, I bet he turns out like Phil Jerkoff. Keeley hurt, but ND has proven they can develop some DL's and seriously who cares about a safety...Least impactful position IMO. And after his first tough day on the job, I can see him running to the portal or OU. If all reports are true, dudes a liar and I'd bet a baby too.

I mean to respond to this:

Sorry if already brought up but they gotta say hell with Eli Bowen and stop recruiting him right. I mean no chance they deal with that family anymore
His brother is no where near good enough right now.

Big ten got a 7 billion dollar deal in AUG. You have to realize the game has changed.

But the B1G didn't have stellar NSD. Three schools in the top 20 rankings is probably a major disappointment for them.
I think its going to result in region being harder to recruit in. We had the Marcus Freeman bump in 2023 and they probably arent going to end up with a top 10 class.

You’d hope so, but I suspect Notre Dame doesn’t have the nerve to play this game.

I think they value the perception of their academic reputation too much to play the portal game. And I suspect they’re willing to gamble that the program doesn’t need to win big to still print money for the university.

To people who think the opposite, do you see a Notre Dame that’s willing to roll up its sleeves and get dirty when you envision the future? Because they’re going to have to if they want to stay truly competitive. You don’t beat Ohio State and the SEC and you don’t prevent the NIL schools from stealing your best players otherwise.
