I’m pretty sure this is a joke, but just for those who think it’s not: A&M is a great example of a school that has a ton to offer in terms of career prospects for students that seek it (huge network of loyal alumni willing to hire and very good biz & engineering programs) ND has an edge, but their off field stuff is real too.

TAMU is a great school with an incredible alumni network.

But I would just add that you really are comparing apples & oranges. The whole degree = x dollars is much better applied to an A&M school, which is directed towards passing on technical skills. Overall, ND approaches education from a religious and liberal arts perspective, which was never intended to be reduced to utility in the workforce.

When we're talking value of a 4 year degree you can easily see where ND ranks. Among P5 Division 1 schools Payscale.com has Stanford as #1, Cal #2, GT #3, and ND #4. They're all fairly close and comparable. Some schools will be better than others in certain fields, but that's the average. Among those schools ND is going to bring you the most success on the field though.

They also rarely win more than 9 games

If we're talking about Oregon, I looked this up to piggyback on it but it turns out they've won 9 or more games in 16 seasons since 2000.

I was kind of surprised, to be honest.

Oklahoma has done it 19 times in the same time frame.

I understand this data, and it’s probably the best we can do from the outside, but I really think it’s functionally useless for comparing a student who is probably at the bottom quarter of NDs admissions criteria vs median or above for large State school.

I live in the Chicago suburbs. They have multiple groups, I can think of at least two, that meet at bars for games on Saturdays. I'm talking gatherings of 40-60 people. I always found it rather odd. Been regular for the last twenty some odd years.

Both were because of freeman
Eh, not sure that is entirely true. Not going to say it's because of BK but 2 of the top 5 commits were on offense. 5 of the top 10. And, 8 of the top 15.

Also, in 2021, the top 5 commits were on offense, all top 120 guys. In 2020, 4 of the top 5 were offense, all top 100.

So, again, I'm not going to sit here and act like BK was this amazing recruiter but as far as benefiting the rankings go, the offense has been holding it's own, for a few years now, at the top of each class.

LOL. 6.

And one of them was 9 wins in 2020.

Yeah. Not great.
Lou S. used to always talk about Texas being the most underachieving program of all time.
Factor in their location, (Austin is a HS kid’s dream), their recruiting location (nowhere larger & overall better than Texas), their money, & the boosters & alumni willing to do anything to win…
And they have a only handful of titles ever, including, what, one, in the past 50 years?

It’s becoming apparent that this kid did not want to have an honest conversation with someone. Looks poorly on his parents more than him in my opinion

So how do people feel about Bowen not decommitting to Freeman’s face last night?

Sounds like he just told ND what they wanted to hear last night despite always knowing his intentions.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he actually decommitted already and the in home was technically with an uncommitted Peyton Bowen.

Just a matter of a public status at this point.

I thought one of the updates from one of the ND sites was that he didn’t decommit and it was a positive meeting (according to their sources).

Idk how do you talk to your future HC presuming you’re still committed and say you’re not coming to visit? There was a point Wednesday night that was the case. Just seems like maybe we were more trying to get back into it than keeping him at some point Wednesday.

Whatever will be public soon, we’ll get the cookie cutter version and that’ll be it.

BTW Drumm had been told not to submit a CB on him for who knows how long, I believe it to be months that I first heard him reference that.

(why do the super secret CBs never work for us)

Hopefully the staff learns from this. If a committed player repeatedly takes visits to another school they should tell him that if he's going to look around then ND will do the same. Doesn't mean they'll force him out of the class or not honor his commitment should he ultimately want to stick, but they just need to prepare for every scenario. Or perhaps just tell them not to commit unless they're sure they want to go to ND. ND shouldn't be a placeholder while they work to get other people (parents) on board with a different school or try to get a better NIL deal. You want to do that then don't commit.
