If this is what forces ND to play the NIL game, then fine. Hard to imagine ND letting the football program wither when it makes so much money for the university.
I've always maintained its such a wierd line to draw. We're ok making millions every year off the kids and coaches, but compensating those same kids every year within the bounds of the rules somehow crosses the line?If this is what forces ND to play the NIL game, then fine. He's taking 20 more visits each to A&M and OUNeed a Poll option, what will the update be:
🤮 for decommitment
👍 for moved from confident to cautiously optimistic
☘️ for he’s solid and OU can kick rocks
😂 for pushing back timeline again and we do this again

This.
We picked the weirdest timeline for ND to have a HC that can recruit when all of a sudden it doesn't matter for 5-star players.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the issue PFP? That's still technically against the rules but programs are blatantly doing it now. ND's NIL deals get their kids paid (probably more so than most programs) but they aren't willing to hand a kid a briefcase full of cash to just show up to campus....and that's the difference. Adapt or die, unfortunately.Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the issue PFP? That's still technically against the rules but programs are blatantly doing it now. Exactly. So if you're a wealthy ND booster then you can play by the rules of the SEC/Big XII and buy kids.NCAA has taken forever to lay down the hammer or at the very least provide clarity . End of the day, if upfront payment is outlawed, most of the big time CFB programs will skate by. You can't punish all of them.
I feel for him too. And, I think it’s likely Freeman leaves ND too in a couple years if they don’t get their act together with a competitive approach to NIL. It’s great that ND wants to express its values via NIL, but it’s an utterly tone deaf message.I've blocked him out of my head but 100% should.
Just wild. Freeman really recruited to a #1 class level in year 1. Feel for the guy.
Yes there is. Pay the fucking kid.But let's be honest...there's absolutely nothing else ND could do here. If he didn't want to be here after witnessing the Clemson game then all you can do is tip your hat and move on.
Technically my ass. You really think Alabama, Oregon, A&M, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, etc are all going to be punished? Of course not. ND admin needs to get off their high horse and realize without football they’re a no name religious school in fucking Indiana.Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the issue PFP? Isn't Swarbrick retiring in a few years?I feel for him too. And, I think it’s likely Freeman leaves ND too in a couple years if they don’t get their act together with a competitive approach to NIL. It’s great that ND wants to express its values via NIL, but it’s an utterly tone deaf message.
Not at all. We still have 2 in the class. There is always the transfer portal. this no where close to the end of the world or even a major blow. No one player makes a team. Remember how everyone reacted when Kyle Hamilton went down. The defense barely skipped a beat (we could hav used him in the bowl game, lol). The fact of the matter no one truly knows how this dude is going to shake out. How many cant miss prospects actually miss? It happens all the time. This class with or with out Bowen is still the best and most complete class ND has gotten since Holtz. 1 guy (even 3 guys) will not change that.At the end of the day ND needs to step up their NIL game. They have more power and money than just about any school out there. Losing Bowen is a huge hole because they didn't land a safety last year.
Swarbrick is not where the resistance to NIL is coming from.Isn't Swarbrick retiring in a few years?

If you think football is going to get more support once Swarbrick is gone, I don't know what to tell you.
Exactly Swarbrick is trying his ass off to bring a championship to ND before he retires. No-one has fought harder against admin/board to help loosen the restrictions against the football team. Look at everything he has done over his tenure to bring the football program out of the dark ages.If you think football is going to get more support once Swarbrick is gone, I don't know what to tell you.
When he flips right before NSD, remember all the ND insiders who said there was nothing to worry about and that Peyton was just having fun taking trips with his brother every week and that he was locked into Notre Dame.
