Even before Jordan McNair died on Maryland on his watch, DJ Durkin has been known for being a complete asshole going back to his days as a player at Bowling Green. He didn't have to say in exile very long, which so many of these guys don't have to anymore. I'm all for second chances but I get the impression this guy isn't going to change.

I'd think twice about sending my son to play for him.

“It’s mostly just like, remember where your home is, this is the place you committed to, stuff like that. Remember the key aspects of this place and the connections you’ve built here.”

“I’m pretty good where I stand right now,” he told On3’s Gerry Hamilton on Thursday. “Nothing is swaying me otherwise. I’m still locked in. Those are the only two schools I’m really in communication with other than Notre Dame.”

That is about as positive a quote we've seen from Bowen in a while.

Wish he could visit more often and the reminder could be in person not having to recall months back.

Agreed, though I still feel we should be recruiting an extra ATH that can play DB/S.

Obviously Keeley is a huge blow, but if this kid sticks, lets not forgot how big of a stud he is and how much he means to this class. That safety room doesn't look too special next year.

I think Keeley is a better overall talent.
I still also think I'd just Peyton's importance to the team over Keeley.

We have some "near" studs on the line. We have studs at LB. NDs DBs? Ehhh, not a true elite guy and honestly a little thin overall.
I agree, Peyton Bowen is the 2nd most important recruit in this class or on the board period, IMO. Getting a day 1 S or a guy that can at least impact the depth chart day 1 was important last cycle, it's basically a necessity this cycle.

I agree with the Bowen's over Downs thing but Keeley is a top ten player in the country

In high school. Foskey is a first round NFL pick. Foskey wasn’t handed a bag. He is earning that bag as we speak by making himself into a first round pick. The ones getting a bag will crash and burn. You cannot motivate a “rich” 17 year old if they’ve already received a prize. It will stunt his growth. Many will graduate with nothing but debt.

Famously why no NFL rookies with big signing bonuses ever pan out.

Sorry for the snark but I disagree. These kids desperately want to be big names in the NFL. Making money in the process won’t placate many of them.

“a few around Bowen want him to be a bit more patient and go and take some unofficial visits”

OU side unsure if he’ll stick to actually announcing something in the coming days as expected.

Not sure what a few more visits will change, he’s been plenty “patient”

as long as mom still holds the cards and still wants Peyton to be irish then i don't see him going anywhere. the pro irish twitter message she posted last week or so about her two sons is all i need to know about where things stand when it comes to our irish

What would he be announcing?

His commitment? Said the longer this goes the better for the Irish. OU has been pushing hard, but it looks like he's not wavering. Mentioned OU is looking at a TCU commit, so maybe OU feels he's solid with ND.
