Can one of the Republicans translate?
That's a good idea.when are recruits gonna start live streaming their in-home visits with coaches? its the next logical step right?
Can't wait to see the videos of Hairball walking around a kid's house shirtless and Burnt Ends traveling with his own bottle of Tabasco sauce while giving recruit's parents tips on how to cook étouffée and hunt alligators.when are recruits gonna start live streaming their in-home visits with coaches? its the next logical step right?
You’re right. I knew after I posted it that I should have said he didn’t drink ON HIS SHOW.
likely to flip
Me.According to who is he likely to flip?
I hope you don't treat your job like your fandom. If you thought recruiting was a roller coaster ride before just wait. They are swinging for some big time fences that they are clearly going to fall short of. I love Freeman's mentality but don't get your hopes up.
Exactly. What people don’t realize — and is 100% a stone cold fact, not opinion — is that BK basically got “intentionally” lazy after the debacle of the 2012 class. I don’t know how many people remember #BangBangNotreDameGang and all of that drama. But I have it on good authority from an assistant coach who was there at that time that BK basically decided that any kid that they had to hard sell or pressure recruit was going to fail at ND.If you thought recruiting was a roller coaster ride before just wait. So after the flirtation with the Eagles in ‘13, he let Notre Dame “recruit itself” and looked for fit above all else. I’m not saying this was a good approach, but it certainly led to recruiting class and roster stability.
Marcus Freeman, by contrast, is trying to do what it takes to win a championship NOT what it takes to win ~10 games a year and keep your job. That means there are going to be a lot more dramatic recruiting battles for coveted national prospects. It’s also happening in the era of NIL, where there will be more late cycle flips than ever. People need to buckle up.
Best case scenario? ND signs a top 5 class with championship caliber talent. Worst case scenario? Roster holes with late flips that ND can’t address well because of transfer restrictions. Got to wait and see.
I agree with you 100%. But a lot of these young men are about the attention. And like Lax said the NIL is going to make recruiting more dramatic than ever.Comes with the territory. I'd rather be playing with the big boys and have UGA trying to flip a recruit than some team like Pitt or NW because we aren't reeling in the elite.
I still believe that we will get across the board better prospects. Which overall will make the team better. See Lax's post.I hope you don't treat your job like your fandom.
"You thought that last fire was bad, this one is probably going to implode shortly after we arrive. Don't get your hopes up"
I'm not sure. I really don't know how NIL will play out. What I will say is that I think some programs are going to get burned much worse than ND *but* they will also have more ability to backfill in the transfer market after missing on signing day.Which one seems more likely?
I'll stand by that the only thing that truly needed to change in our existing recruiting was landing legit QB.
The whole boat didn't need completely rocked.
NIL and especially the instant transfer make FIT even more important IMO.
I think it was more than that.Which one seems more likely?

I would argue that post 2017 our safety play has been stronger than our corner play every year. Gilman-Elliott was a pretty good pair. Has safety been worse than RB? Interior DL?I think it was more than that.
I think they definitely needed legit WR,'s CB's and S's as well (other than Hamilton, S play has been mediocre). Maybe even LB's too.
And for every JOK, Okwara, Jaylon, Tuitt, etc. they had, there was often a pedestrian player as each's counterpart. And the drop off for substitutions or the replacement after they left was steep. I think more than landing a legit QB was what needed to change.
Maybe. The point was that ND needed to do more from a recruiting standpoint than go get a QB.I would argue that post 2017 our safety play has been stronger than our corner play every year. Gilman-Elliott was a pretty good pair. Has safety been worse than RB? Interior DL?

I have to believe that is the focus. He's going after more elite talent, but that doesn't mean he has to throw out the old tenets.I personally think we can do both and that should be the focus.
Very true. But not so much in your base defense. And perhaps in your short yardage defense. It’s really not hard to hide one safety nowadays if you have good safety play from the other and from a Rover/Nickel. Even UGA and Bama their relative weakness was their second safety. NDs problem is they had above average play (actually elite) from only 1/3 last year.
