Cost us the playoffs. I concur. What a dick head. Would be refreshing if he just came out and owned that. Dencroxk single handedly lost us the Miami game and Ash was the culprit for A&M with a skosh of Buchner.
Correct. I hope both reflect on that for awhile during the off-season. Each were all-time coaching fiascos.

He has two of the best... maybe 5 runs I have ever seen. The hurdle then truck at SCum last year and the other one.

Do we know how many first drive, 20/30+ yard TDs he had? Six? Seven?

Hypothetical… but do you think there is a realistic number that could convince J Love to return? Like people have mentioned before, he’s a different cat and coming back to win a Heisman, erasing the Notre Dame record books, and winning National Championship could be motivating factors to at least consider to come back… One can dream.

The money needed would rob the team of being complete. I love J. Love but he's too valuable in the league. He's the 3rd rated player on some boards and he'll get a massive first contract. We're talking $30+ mill to keep him, an impossibility.

Here were the salaries from last year by estimation and nearly all of them had 80%+ guaranteed:

  • No. 1: $43.01 million (Spotrac) | $48.84 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 2: $41.12 million (Spotrac) | $46.65 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 3: $39.9 million (Spotrac) | $45.25 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 4: $38.52 million (Spotrac) | $43.66 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 5: $36.09 million (Spotrac) | $40.87 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 6: $31.77 million (Spotrac) | $35.9 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 7: $28.31 million (Spotrac) | $31.91 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 8: $24.86 million (Spotrac) | $27.93 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 9: $24.68 million (Spotrac) | $27.73 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 10: $23.73 million(Spotrac) | $26.64 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 11: $22.26 million (Spotrac) | $24.94 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 12: $20.2 million (Spotrac) | $22.55 million (Over The Cap)
  • No. 13: $19.67 million (Spotrac) | $21.96 million (Over The Cap)

Love would not be doing himself a service if he came back. He should not take another carry in a ND uniform - he should focus his energies on nailing the pre-draft process (as he will), and maximize his earnings in the NFL. He's a great kid and a wonderful player who I will enjpy watching on Sundays. I hate that he didn't get a chance to play for a championship this year, but he has nothing left to prove at the college level.

If you think about it, becoming a finalist as a non-QB is a pretty significant accomplishment

/cope

Edit - the fact that there are four means this isn't a runaway shit
/more cope

3. How many finalists are there every year? Beginning in 2021, the Heisman Trophy Trust began officially inviting four finalists to New York City for the Heisman Trophy Weekend. In previous years, it varied. There were always least three finalists invited in a given year. The total did rise to as high as eight invitees in 1989 (though only four actually attended the ceremony). Six finalists was the most to ever attend a ceremony.

FWIW the rocket was persuaded to bypass the NFL and go to the CFL.

Well deserved. Best player in college football with the best highlights. Very fortunate to watch him play over the last three seasons.

Really needed some good ND news, too, even if he has no shot to win.

So happy for the kid. Best I've ever seen at ND. I've felt lucky watching him do his thing every week.

Incidentally, for all those wondering, THIS is why Freeman was in New York Friday. Pretaping content for the ceremony.

Can’t wait for an interview w him at this ceremony. Hope he’s less polite about the farce that is the playoff committee.

Love has said in multiple recent interviews that he doesn't like watching football unless it's film.
I don't think he's going to say anything too crazy he doesn't seem like the type that would

That wouldn’t be a good idea. Stands nothing to gain and definitely wouldn’t endear him to anyone that matters in the NFL.

I wonder if there’s a possibility he gets some sympathy votes thrown his way due to what happened to the team.
