What a lame ass year for the Heisman this was a year to do it for a RB . Mendoza is good, but when’s the last time a QB won with less than 3,000 yards? - and in 13 games, with minimal rushing yards.

Troy Smith Myth?, even Tebow got 3k in the air.

I am glad to see this but you can rest assured the team’s actions will hurt him. The ND haters are just that bad.

How do you figure? Any NFL GM/exec with a decent idea of the layout of current CFB knows he wasn't going to play an any game not in the CFP. His on and off field actions already speak volumes to his character.

Sampson said he would have voted for Pavia over Love.
It's time Sampson goes and does the Vandy beat already.
Nothing he’s said in the past couple of weeks has been nearly as outrageous as people are making it out to be.

When he said Miami should be in over ND because of the head to head result he added that Bama should not be in over either.

As to Pavia, taking a perennial doormat like Vandy and putting the offense on your back to make them a legitimate team two years in a row is really impressive. If any QB gets the award it should be Pavia.

You know as well as I do that that some of the voters will not vote for Love with the recent negativity around ND.

Most of the stuff that created "negativity" happened after voters did their Heisman voting. Announcement about skipping the bowl came out roughly an hour before voting closed. I'm assuming most voters voted Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Not using him properly in that Miami game is what ultimately cost him the Heisman.
That will be the company line from ESPN & all the anti-ND media who really didn’t watch him. And Miami fans will forever claim that as some great accomplishment despite the fact that Love only touched the ball 10 times so as much as I love Denbrock, he should get some of the blame for Love having any chinks in his armor.

I was not aware the voting was done that day. Thanks

Running Back: Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame

Love entered the season as the best running back in college football and has been exactly that this year. His 92.9 PFF grade leads all FBS tailbacks, while his 39 explosive runs are tied for third. Love is also third among FBS backs with 1,652 total yards from scrimmage.

Knowing what we know now, he would have had to put up astronomical numbers for an unbeaten team and I question whether even that would get him enough votes to win.

I hope the next National Championship comes before the next Heisman, and it probably will as there is direct control over one and not the other.

  • Media Members: 870 sportswriters and personalities who regularly cover college football, with 145 from each of the six geographical regions (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Southwest, Midwest, Far West).
  • Former Winners: All living Heisman Trophy recipients get a vote, though they aren't required to cast one.
  • The Fan Vote: A special program allows the public to cast a single vote, which is combined with the other ballots.
  • points awarded for first (3), second (2), and third (1) place choices
How many of these media dickheads are paid by ESPN? The only redeeming factor is votes are privately tabulated by a legitimate auditing firm.

Mendoza/Sayin should split B1G midwest biased folks. Pavia is secretly hated by SEC voters who only slobber over blue bloods. Rodriquez is a throw away due to defense. Seems there should be a crap ton of votes out there for Love but everyone hates ND too much to have a real shot.

Accurate. How tf are there 870 media members that deserve a vote? Maybe like 50 at best, but I'd just change it to only former winners.

It was pretty simple and downright idiotic to have another big game with him getting limited touches. Guess it's something that wasn't learned in the championship game

I’m sure it won’t adversely affect him personally, but I predict the overriding thing we hear about Love is his 33 yds vs Miami. Instead of celebrating him, the talking heads & social media haters will make that go viral. Maybe ND PR should consult w/ IrishEnvy about how to combat this…LOL. To be clear, I don’t think Fowler or Rece Davis or Marty Smith or whomever is on stage interviewing him & his family will get into that. That’s too low even for ESPN. They’ll celebrate the kid I have no doubts. But the pre-show run up to the award show & social media will be littered with it. If you don’t think ESPN wants to drive that home in passive-aggressive fashion (to avoid looking like they’re picking on the kid) you‘re naive. They’ve already proven they can get their talking heads on the same page when it comes to talking points that are anti-ND

That would be nice if Disney didn't own ESPN and turn everything they touch into woke crap. Try handing that out again this week and se how the crowd responds douchebags.

His highlight reel at Heisman ceremony is going to put the others to shame. I still think the Orange Bowl TD run vs PSU should be considered since it happened after the last trophy was presented.
