I've been trying to think of who he runs like, because his running style is defintely fairly unusual. I was recently watching some highlights of Gale Sayers and it's the best comp I've run into.

The Kansas Comet. Good comp. I thought you were off on this until I watched about 5 minutes of those highlights. Love might be a tad more physical.

McShay’s pod is great. You can tell he loves talking ball not just that he loves giving takes, which is a difference.

Don’t need to listen to every episode but good I have nothing else just fire up the most recent pod.

Like the McFadden comp

I love J love, but I watched rocket and he's not on that level... he was wr,rb, punt return, kick return... anytime he touched it you held your breathe... love is awesome, but rocket has very few comparisons and bush would be comparable in terms of the threat he was.. rocket, Bush were on another tier

Was Rocket like Devin Hester—only obviously even more well-rounded? That’s how I always felt watching him (Hester)—any time he touched the ball it could be a house call.

Rocket was more dynamic than Hester

My dad is a die hard Ohio St fan and he even agrees when I'd argue that Ted Ginn wasn't on the same level he agreed

Again, Love is an all around better football player. I'm not saying who is more "dynamic". I'm saying who is more versatile for the game

Rocket was the top player in college football his sophomore and junior seasons. Every time he touched the ball you held your breath. He finished 2nd in the Heisman voting. He also was the expected #1 NFL pick until he signed a record contract to play in the CFL. Will Love surpass Rocket? He’ll have to have a Heisman like year and be a top 5 draft pick. I hope he does it, but right now, Rocket was better.

Love is a phenomenal athlete in an era when there's more talented athletes than there were 35 years ago. Rocket was different, he was like a man among boys. Is Love a better athlete than the Rocket? Maybe in a vacuum. Love is awesome, best back in college football this year, but for his era Rocket was really head and shoulders above the rest I think. Secretariat is an apt comparison there.

It goes without saying once again that Tony Roberts was the very best when it comes to calling games, radio or tv. He is greatly missed.

Money. Apparently Wayne Gretsky and John Candy, along with some other big money people, got together and offered Rocket $4.5 million a year which was a better deal than any receiver in either league at the time. He played for a few years there, decided to finally join the NFL, had a couple good seasons and then retired.

So someone brought up Rocket vs Devin Hester...

In College: Both had 6 return TD's. Hester had 81 return chances - Rocket only 71. Advantage Rocket.

Pro Football: No need to look it up. When it came to per second explosiveness/production, Hester was one of the most don't blink or you'll miss it athletes I've ever seen. I mean like Tyson, MJ and peak Juiced Barry Bonds level.

I love Love. He's incredible.

Rocket was probably still my favorite player to ever watch. He was so fast and explosive. He was like a video game. He was one of the few that you held your breath every time he touched it. Even when another team scored, it wasn't as bad because you knew you would get to see a Rocket return.

17. Chicago Bears

Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame*

The Bears were rumored to be interested in Ashton Jeanty had he fallen to them in the 2025 draft, so perhaps 2026 is when they'll get a running back. Love was one of the best running backs in the country last season as a sophomore, rushing for 1,125 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is a bruising runner at 6-foot and 206 pounds but can also break off big plays -- see his 98-yard TD against Indiana in the first round of the playoffs -- and shake tacklers in space. That, plus his receiving skills, makes him the perfect feature back for new coach Ben Johnson's offense.

His deal was more than the league cap at the time in Canada and also more then anybody in the NFL was making, his contract was 26.2m/4yrs w/18.2+ guaranteed and the biggest contract in the NFL was Marino at 26.3m/5yrs. Just crazy to think about that right now

It was a hell of a time to be alive.

For both, really.

I remember Hester in the pros. It was legit EXACTLY like everyone says.

I expected him to house call every time he touched it in the return game.

Even back then I thought how stupid do you have to be to kick to this dude
