wonder how many pages end up being in this thread when he signs with somebody on signing day because we are already at 99 with several months before signing day

or he’s nowhere close to committing or making a decision and our staff simply messed up
While I bounce back and forth in this theory as well, wouldn’t we be pursuing more than 1 guy now if true? Unless they’re so inept that they’re continuing to mess up on top of the mess up. Possible.

One theory is MF is used to getting what he wants. Perhaps he isn’t accustomed to missing. Or hasn’t needed a contingency plan before so he’s not sure how to proceed here. It could simply be that they've given up on a ‘23 kid unless it’s Dante and so they’ve turned their attention to ‘24.

As one other poster said, the crazed fan base, if Dante comes to ND, will be calling for Buchners head after his first INT.

The staff's actions (or lack of) over the last 3 months should probably be the biggest indicator on the Moore confidence meter.
I think we'll be fine either way, but I honestly wouldn't trust the word of a kid if he's telling me behind closed doors he's probably coming. If he's not coming forward and committing then he likely still has doubts and is playing the game. For that reason I'd have the backup plan. Like I said, I think we'll be fine either way, but I don't trust back alley deals or handshakes. I'll believe it when he's signed...and graduated

Freeman’s already lost out on recruits, so I don’t think that theory holds much weight. He’s young as a head coach, but has sufficient experience not to be so naive in recruiting. Since we are speaking in hypotheticals, the other possibility is that Freeman knows something we are growing impatient acknowledging, that Dante is an actual ND silent playing games with everyone on the outside. Dante’s word could very well be with the coach, not the beat writers or fanbase.
I can't find or remember where I saw it exactly but a couple of weeks ago there was an article in which Freeman was asked about QB recruiting - maybe at an alumni event - and he said something to the effect of "I can't talk about it yet but we have a young man coming who's going to change Notre Dame football." The confidence was striking.

Maybe Freeman was talking out of his ass. Or maybe he's being played by a 16-year-old. And of course nothing's certain until Dante runs out of the tunnel on Senior Day. But it's also quite possible he knows something about this recruitment that we don't.

If this is true and he’s not coming, he loses all credibility on this front going forward.

Yeah, if they're that confidant then why hasn't Dante pulled the trigger? I mean, it's nice to see that Freeman believes it too so it's not just Rees, but if this kid picks another school he will have really snowed this new staff.

Loy on Carr’s possible impact on Moore:

“To be completely honest, just being real, it might have an impact.”

“They (speaking about elite QBs) want to play as early as possible and sometimes with as much ease as possible, and if better opportunities arise, it is what it is.”

Ideally ND gets Carr and has him reclassify to 23 so they can move on from the Moore drama.
Ideally.
But what happens if Carr wants to commit but not reclassify? Are we comfortable waiting another year for that elite QB?

Apparently A&M got some very positive feedback from Jaden Rashada during his OV this weekend. Hopefully they can land him when he announces in 2 weeks.

What is likely here if Carr and Moore want to come?

1. We land Moore and get his verbal this fall before NSD. We then get a verbal from Carr before NSD does Moore bolt?

2. Carr does not verbal until after NSD would Moore try to bolt post NSD?

3. Carr verbals before Moore, does Moore then bolt for? LSU? Oregon?

4. They both verbal whenever they verbal to ND and we get both?

5. Then if Sayin wants in? Sayin or Carr... whoever pops first? Does Sayin depend on Moore? Obviously there is no Sayin AND Carr.

6. ?

How the hell did we get here and how can Tommy mess this up?

Any scenario that has the 2023 bolting over a 2024 committing is a player I don’t want anywhere near ND to begin with.

Haha, Loy changing the narrative, again. Whatever. Recruit and take quality QB’s as often as possible.
He, along with every other insider and college coaches, think ND leads. Other than that, I'm not sure what the narrative is.

I think there is a snowball's chance in hell that Moore and Carr land at the same school.

It started with Carr not ending up at the same school as Moore. Then the “update” was that wouldn’t matter anymore. Now the “update” is it might have an impact.

The POV was all flipped though. Carr wouldn’t end up at the same place after Moore. Then it was Carr would choose his school independent of Moore. It’s never been speculated, because we would have never needed to, what Moore would do if he was deciding after Carr.

Nah man.

Loy has been consistent that Dante is Irish.

He said he heard a while ago, if Carr went to ND, that could change things. He very quickly said that changed and Dante didn't care who came and he was ready to compete.

Which makes sense with transfer rules as they are.

The latest thing was purely his *thoughts* on the matter and how he assumes it *could* have an effect because of human nature.

Errybody gets crazy when they hear the best information... because the best info is subject to change.

Let's not forget that the staff doesn't share everything and that includes what they what the recruiting sites to know. For all we know, they could be busy as a beaver building a dam. Since we're not near the water to see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
