My spin is that BK didn't recruit hard enough. I appreciate that BK could beat the teams that we have a roster advantage over. He couldn't beat a team that had a roster advantage... ever. Maybe Oklahoma 2012? Hard to count Clemson 2020. Missing best Players on both sides of the ball.

Marcus Freeman gets it and goes after dime pieces driving a Ferrari.
BK targeted 6s-8s driving a Honda Pilot.
Freeman gets what it takes to beat and compete against Tier 1 elite teams.
He’s not exactly hitting home runs at LSU. They apparently just lost a Louisiana safety to Texas.

Exactly! The evidence is clear. Elite effort is going to get some elite recruits. Brian Kelly isn't elite in any department. If you are going to have a shot at winning it all. Elite recruiting is the absolute foundation of which a championship team develops from. Very good recruiting will never win a championship. Lucky for us, Freeman understands the foundation to build ND Football into championship caliber is recruiting. No excuses. He's not "shopping down a different aisle". it's not going n
after "RKGs." It's simply knocking on the door of elite players and following up relentlessly. ND recruiting has been a sleeping giant in that aspect. Freeman is the coach we needed to finally wake up the giant. He's getting results and the arrow only goes up from here imo.

Someone committed last night.
My guess was Hanafin.
But according to IB, there are 6 commits, not counting ‘24, so I was thinking Hanafin was already one of them.
Jagusah, Bell, Flores, Gray, Hanafin & who?

IF anyone, probably Jason Moore, since it's making in public in July anyway

Hanafin is going to be bumped again by 247 into the Top 247 next week.

It’s kinda funny to see 247 realize he was absurdly unranked and slowly slide him up now. Like they couldn’t justify doing it at one time so now it’s being done over multiple updates in short succession.

Anyone have an inclination who the sixth silent is? It’s one of Hanafin or Ausberry.

Is this like a running joke type of thing or is there real confidence that we have 3 or so more silents?

Driskell said multiple times that we have 6 ‘23. That was prior to Rico, Jagusah, Bell, and Gray committing. So it’s down to 2 more. Assuming Greathouse is a silent (IDK) since he is going public on July 15, that would place it between Ausberry and Hanafin, unless of course all 3 are now silent.

Up to 168 in the top 247! Now he's a take

I really wish we could sure up the WR room because Hanafin looks like a future NFL safety/OLB to me

Long time observer, first time poster.
He's a stud all around. I really hope we can get this kid to commit soon. He and his family are life long ND fans and he's been best friends with Zinter since 7th grade, so that helps our case even more. Just gotta close.

Welcome and keep ‘em coming.

I’m right there with ya. But, I also thought Chase Claypool should’ve been on defense so…lol. A lot of similarities, IMO, between the two.

Agree but I think it’s obvious even more so than watts that defensive is most likely his ticket. He moves kinda like thielen but he has a physicality to him I love on D.

That doesn’t mean claypool wouldn’t have been better on D. Claypool is one of a kind and could have dominated at many positions.

Claypool is way more of a freak athlete and bigger/longer than hanafin. If people are expecting a college claypool out of hanafin I believe they’ll be disappointed. On the other hand, I think his upside as WR is more Alec pierce, vs say Harrison smith upside at safety.

Either would be awesome, but I think safety upside is more likely.

I want to say Shawn and Maliks podcast yesterday said Hanafin was committing within the next week?

Unfortunately I don’t put much stock into anything they say
Correct, I watched the entire podcast last night and while there were some interesting stories in there about Dante, they were all over the place with their thoughts. At one point it sounded like Malik told Dante not to come to ND. Then he said ND was the best option by far and made fun of Oregon. They were saying it was all on Dante's dad. Then saying it was CJ Carr's parents fault. Then saying CJ's dad didn't want CJ at ND. Then saying the Carr's played chess and the Moore's played checkers. It was very hard to follow.
