He will have plenty of big games to show whether or not he's good. This was one game on the road and he looked like RL throwing the ball. Some of those misses are egregious. Looked like he lost all confidence in short passing and has yips popping up. I wonder how many TDs/big plays he missed.

His rating was always a projection and not fair to him, but he's cashed in on it. He can cry into the hundred dollar bills he uses to heat his house

Biggest revelation for me is that Saban's coaches call him daddy. "Daddy's on me"

lol, unless they joking about the way Saban acts. If not, weird

This young man never had a chance with the hype machine surrounding him. Had he played lights out like many thought he could(would), he would have laid the groundwork to dominate CFB for the next several years.

Always thought it was weird that we expected him to be so good when he sat behind Quinn Ewers who wasn't exactly Andrew Luck.

This is Riley Leonard vs Northern Illinois level bad.

He missed that quick slant for the TD in the 4th and opted for the back corner flag route. He'll be just fine this season once he settles but not understanding why he was sidearming so many throws.

Those last two crossers on the final series are TERRIBLE. No exaggeration but I believe any of us could have hit either of those.

Have we seen any great QB play this weekend?

Against a real team honestly the best has probably been Cal freshman Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele.

Joey Aguilar, Julian Sayin, Devon Dampier, Nussmeier, Sawyer Robertson all I thought were good too

Slim pickins for sure

Sure looked like a heck of a lot of clean pockets

Funny part is Manning had one of the best days in the country in terms of deep throws. The whole pitch with Manning is he was gonna unlock the offense and Sark was piss scared to actually let him until the game was basically lost. You’ve had the kid for 3 years, how do you not know how to get him comfortable early/play to his strengths?

This is also part of why the expanded playoff stinks because you get coaches playing not to lose this weekend instead of playing to win. Because who cares in the end if you lose to OSU?

Agreed and combined with Sark's history of being an offensive genius left alot to be desired.

Not too many, but on that play he certainly did (to my surprise) and he missed that darting WR on a slant. Seems like a case of predetermining where you go with the ball.

Orvlosky doing a brilliant job explaining what I've said about 20x since the game about OSU's defensive scheme doing an A1 job on masking coverages to confuse the QB.

As someone who missed the game, I appreciate the video. And yes, watching this and all the 2-yards dings, I thought "Riley Leonard with two broken legs."

Was discussing this on Monday at the Labor Day BBQ.

It felt really bad overall.
In defense of less than stellar QB play, lots of new starting QBs. Lots of guys who should be in their second or third year starting at the same school were playing their first game with a new team.

I think this is ultimately true and the adults are not getting portion of the blame. All these recruitnik guys who have never played nor coached ball. A lot of big program coaches that probably got booster pressure to get on Arch Manning's recruiting when he was in high school. His high school stats were good, but not great, not spectacular by any means.

He shares a name with his grandfather and two uncles who played in the League.

I think the part about sitting behind Ewers is an important point. A friend texted that in a college football group text when the UT v tOSU game ended. You have to assume if Arch was really that good, he probably beats Ewers out at some point.

This being said, Ohio State is a good team and maybe they just shackled him up in the opener. We're going to find out very soon what is what here.

I could be led to believe that the media made up that Arch Manning was good at football because it would be good for business. What I don't understand is why college coaches who make offers and who are generally pretty good at identifying talent would go along with it. Sark pretty clearly pushed Ewers out for Manning, and he saw both of them play in practice every day. I say this as a big "Arch isn't going to be a generational anything" guy.
