I went back through the thread. Immediately there were guys like Rockin'Irish (#740) and BobbyMac (#823) who made completely sensible comments like "can't assume he was being reckless" and "There are so many things that could have happened that didn't include negligence, alcohol, or recklessness." Both knew that this was UTV not ATV. Other posters were our usual superioristic morons that we have grown to expect will pile on anyone they can. Most of IE reacted positively a la Rockin' and Bobby.
Then came an audio (#857) from Irish Illustrated with reporter-type information. It simply laid down the circumstances: Luke Talich's place; weekend get-away; lots of arranged activity; 11 guys from the team plus Talich. The main activity was going into the "wild" and shooting guns. This took place under joint supervision of both local police and military experts (at shooting guns) and every athlete had at least one pro assigned to them. When they went to the field to shoot, each of our guys travelled in an UTV with their assigned expert. (O'Malley didn't talk like I'm writing; he gave the basics; I'm making full sentences which make meaning out of the obvious.) For some reason (maybe better control of lines-of-sight shooting) not all guys went out at the same time (6 at a time.) The other guys filled the time by motoring about on trails elsewhere for the fun of it. The audio guys did not know if the footballers ever drove or not; one commentator speculated BUT DID NOT KNOW that Jagusah could have been driving but who knows?
OK. That's what I thought that I'd heard, and the old thread entries confirm that. So, why am I going on about it? Because I'm "too sensitive" I guess about piling on one of our guys with words and assumptions as to how much an idiot or ass he is, when I don't believe it's justified at all. Our Biggun might just have been riding with an officer and the UTV flipped over for no fault of his, and he got unlucky.
