Just another example of poor choices impacting a persons future big time.
Activist, against ATV riding. Or hall monitor.
It is crazy how one bad decision can change your life just like that. Instead of being a multi millionaire having a career playing pro ball, he had better hope he is getting his education in a really good field.

I just don't see how with todays medical technology that he could possibly be out this long hell Tatum came back after like 6 months and played when he tore his achillies
But seriously, malpractice? Like in what universe does a break like this simply not heal?

There are just so many factors. When there’s an open fracture, it’s considered an emergency because of the high risk of infection (among other risks). So it’s never a surprise when an injury like this gets infected. And infections are definitely a risk factor for poor bone healing (non-union or malunion). For it to be healed, there has to be actual scar and bone that has to grow between the fracture lines even after it’s plated. Fractures never fit back into place like puzzle pieces; you reduce as best as possible and plate it but inevitably there are small pieces that’ll be missing. And there’s always the possibility of nerve and/or tendon injury when a large bone like the humerus gets fractured. If a nerve is cut, there’s virtually nothing you can do to make those muscles function normally again.

And we’re talking about high level football. Maybe he can function relatively normally in everyday life with how much he’s healed so far, but there’s a big difference between picking up a bowl from the cupboard versus trying to move a 340 pound defensive lineman

As a player safety officer
Basically, a "de-motivational speaker", of sorts.

"Hey. guys! You know how you're temped to take some of that big money you just got and do really crazy stuff with it?! Well, don't. Here's why: [shows pics of his injury]".

I must be mis-remembering some of this so I'm curious if some of you guys can straighten my memories of the accident out.

1. Charles was invited to a Wyoming vacation by a teammate;
2. One thing provided by that teammate was a chance to ride in UTVs, and several guys did;
3. These UTVs were not driven by the guys (and not Charles) but by provided drivers;
4. What Charles is "guilty" of is doing what everyone else of his buddies did, and didn't cause it.

This must NOT be correct though? as everyone is really crapping on his terrible decision-making.

I am serious in my interest in correcting my memory of what I thought I read.
I'd like to know the extent of Charles' own errors in this.

I'm with you. These kids should have reasonable fun and 99.9% of people who go ATV'ing don't get injured. It sucks and has derailed his promising future. But I wouldn't tell kids they can't go ATV'ing.

Same. People acting like the guy was skydiving or swimming with sharks are off their fucking rocker.

MGB: check the time on the posts --- simultaneous. You aren't the only person in the Universe.

What I'm trying to find out (and the post doesn't address) is whether Charles really is to blame about any of this.

Several people have climbed on him for risky behavior. Maybe he was hardly at fault at all. But maybe he was.

Did he do the reckless driving that caused a wreck, or did a "professional"?

It would seem a bit odd to go on a ride with a "provided driver" as an adult but I suppose I am not familiar with Wyoming customs

Sorry OMM- I thought you were talking to me. I wouldn't call ATV riding inherently "risky behavior" like some other activities, so anyone piling on Jagusah for making a poor decision, without some indication that he was in fact driving recklessly or doing something stupid, is a drama queen and/or idiot as far as I'm concerned.

NFL teams and players can negotiate whatever the hell they want. Just because an NFL player is contractually prohibited from doing something doesn't make it inherently dangerous. NFL teams would prevent players from leaving the practice facility if they could. I've been on an ATV countless times without incident. Freak accidents happen in life, but it's not reckless or a sign of poor decision making in and of itself to ride an ATV.

I went back through the thread. Immediately there were guys like Rockin'Irish (#740) and BobbyMac (#823) who made completely sensible comments like "can't assume he was being reckless" and "There are so many things that could have happened that didn't include negligence, alcohol, or recklessness." Both knew that this was UTV not ATV. Other posters were our usual superioristic morons that we have grown to expect will pile on anyone they can. Most of IE reacted positively a la Rockin' and Bobby.

Then came an audio (#857) from Irish Illustrated with reporter-type information. It simply laid down the circumstances: Luke Talich's place; weekend get-away; lots of arranged activity; 11 guys from the team plus Talich. The main activity was going into the "wild" and shooting guns. This took place under joint supervision of both local police and military experts (at shooting guns) and every athlete had at least one pro assigned to them. When they went to the field to shoot, each of our guys travelled in an UTV with their assigned expert. (O'Malley didn't talk like I'm writing; he gave the basics; I'm making full sentences which make meaning out of the obvious.) For some reason (maybe better control of lines-of-sight shooting) not all guys went out at the same time (6 at a time.) The other guys filled the time by motoring about on trails elsewhere for the fun of it. The audio guys did not know if the footballers ever drove or not; one commentator speculated BUT DID NOT KNOW that Jagusah could have been driving but who knows?

OK. That's what I thought that I'd heard, and the old thread entries confirm that. So, why am I going on about it? Because I'm "too sensitive" I guess about piling on one of our guys with words and assumptions as to how much an idiot or ass he is, when I don't believe it's justified at all. Our Biggun might just have been riding with an officer and the UTV flipped over for no fault of his, and he got unlucky.

Well at this point, if update is true, I doubt he ever suits up for ND. In today’s college game you’d medical him to free up NIL money and roster space. It’s a crappy move but that’s why you bring in a GM to make these calls.

And really, do you really think anyone on this earth cares one bit of what you think or are concerned with?
Speak of the devil. I said “idiot” and you appeared like magic. I don’t have any crayons to draw you a picture, but l’ll explain it slowly for you: this, is, a, message, board. Adults (and sometimes special children like you) gather here and provide opinions on various topics. You can take them or leave them. Now run along.

Just went back and read your post. What kind of stupid are you exactly?
