Eh. If he is an early enrollee, once his HS semester is completed I see no issue with this. In fact the more college level practices a player can be exposed to the better it is for him getting acclimated to the college game. Seems pretty smart to me.

NCAA Bylaw 14.2.1.1 Practice Prior to Initial Enrollment. A student-athlete may practice during the official vacation period immediately preceding initial enrollment, provided the student has been accepted by the institution for enrollment in a regular, full-time program of studies at the time of the individual's initial participation; is no longer enrolled in the previous educational institution; and is eligible under all institutional and NCAA requirements.

It happens a good bit now for ACC and SEC schools even ones not playing in NY6 or CFP games. For example Khalil Barnes (former ND target ) is already practicing for Clemson

after i posted i reread the article i was thinking of and it did say he gets a jump start by practicing w/ them and traveling...i guess i assumed traveling to the bowl game meant he could play....thanks!

I have zero problems with them starting practicing as early as possible. I’d hope we are doing the same thing. If we aren't why not? It’s a benefit of EE for sure.

It's a silly loophole, but whatever. The argument around what is the 2022 team vs. 2023 team in this case is valid, but college football is so far off the rails at this point does it even matter.

Winter Semester - they're in class - well, in theory, they're in class.

Maybe Alabama has a “winter semester,” but most schools are not in class right now. So EE’s are not yet enrolled students. Which, I’d agree, makes practicing feel a little “off.” Hell, Signing Day was barely a week ago.

But in concept it’s not really that different than regular incoming freshmen showing up in June, is it? It’s the way of the world.

i mean, did he really? At worst he blew an assignment to stay deep but, if so why was there a wide open slot over the middle as well. Both DBs gave free inside relief like they both had safety help. One of the DBs minimum were supposed to not play for safety help. I think the dbs on the outside blew the coverage most likely.

The kid is playing in his second ever college football game as a true freshman against a top 10 team. I think the kid will be just fine.
