Didn't we offer that edge that's committed to Tennessee a few weeks ago? How is that different? Not trying to start anything, genuinely curious.
Back then folks were still pretending it had nothing to do with Keeley.

We're not even remotely playing the same NIL game. That's the issue here.

We weren't remotely playing the pay for play pre NIL. We're definitely playing NIL, just not NIL for play. (Likely won't ever)
We're still in a better position post NIL than pre.

Maybe not for top 50/100 players but for the 100/250 range which is still improvent overall.

Our hope is, and always has been, a QB savior.

Freeman needs to pray that's Carr and we hold on to him.

How can you call it not uneven. No QB is enough to call it uneven. That is the key position on field and we have sucked at recruiting it.We may scramble and get a 3 star, but it will still be a letdown. The class is going to be a swing and a miss. I am a member on other teams boards and they knew what was coming for us and predicted this coming apart. Losing Keeley is massive and missing on Dante. No way to sugarcoat that turd.
QB is one position, that hardly determines whether a class is "even". It's also still not over yet, I haven't heard much lately but Minchey and Love are still strong possibilities last I heard. The class isn't a "turd" regardless, if Keeley were never in it I doubt anyone would be saying that, it's only because we got so close to excellence that anyone would call it a turd. If it ends up a top 5 class, which it very well could, calling that a turd is ridiculous.

Very reasonable post. And here I thought any poster since July 01 was an NDNation migrant.

We all know what needs to happen
this is exactly what ND needs to do, pull up in a big rig full of NIL money.

I don't think this is entirely true. I don't think it's a matter of how much money from alumni or boosters ND has compared to Bama, more like ND alum are more likely to spend their money on something way more important and impactful than an 18 year old coming to play football for their alma mater.

That's also not what NIL was supposed to be. "Name, Image and Likeness" was supposed to get these young men compensated for schools using their name, number (jersey sales) or likeness (such as a video game) to properly compensate these kids for their own brand that the schools have been profiting off of for decades. The way ND is doing it, asking their players to go out in the community and earn their check, or the way Kyle Hamilton and those boys did it by hustling on the side and creating a nice following through a podcast, is the way NIL was supposed to be done.

Unfortunately, it wasn't/isn't properly regulated and this is now our reality. Some schools have rich ass donors who dgaf about anything but football. That's not ND. Even if you really want it to be.

ND has 100x’s the money, but 1/1000 of the red necks that would drop that cash, unfortunately.

Give them some of those gold bars. At The Fed, each of those gold bars is worth around $600k. The big names generate that on 1 Saturday.

Well, if you count Subway Alumni as our "rednecks," we probably win on that front as well. What's stopping a wealthy ND fan from reaching out to Mama Keeley via a back channel, and saying, "We both know ND is the best spot for Keon. I'll match whatever his best NIL offer is so you can take $ out of the equation?"

I'm sure ND wouldn't be happy about it, but since these are the same people who thought the wisest course of action was to assume the NCAA's good faith and self-report the Frozen Five for laughably insignificant violations, their judgment on such issues is already suspect and can be safely ignored.

As another poster mentioned, I don’t know if there are enough people that care enough to spend their ash that way.

Pooling on the other hand I would do. I’d drop $100 right now to keep him. I bet at least 10,000 other ND fans would too.

If I ever win the lottery I will happily volunteer to run ND's NIL. A&M's $30 million class would be child's play. I'd ensure guys like Caleb Downs, Carnell Tate, Richard Young, Samuel Okunlola, etc. would all be committed to ND right now.

If you want to do that, you'll likely have to do it without ND's blessing. The admin's refusal to entertain pay-for-play is why we're about to lose Keeley and Bowen. But there's probably not much they can do to stop you.

Which is exactly why someone needs to be a hero and step in for the kids and program. Everyone know MF wants it deep down. There is no reasonable position ND can take to say it’s wrong. They’re simply cowards.

It always felt like this could go this way.

Is this an NIL thing or did ND just plain get out recruited? If the new staff can’t land/hold on to a few of these kinds of guys, does ND just forever trudge along in their current tier?

Any chance Freeman/Washington/Golden can get a hold of this thing again?

Lets go full Wall Street Club on this. We pool our money together in a SPAC to purchase Keeley's NIL rights if he chooses to go to ND. If not, the SPAC disbands and everyone gets their money back.

Our alumni are also the same people who sold off a ton of their ND home tickets to UGA fans and let them flood our 🏟

Those aren't Subway Alumni. I'm talking about the die-hards who didn't attend the school but bleed Blue & Gold. Not the wine and cheese crowd who yell at fans to sit down.

If they do get a hold of this thing, this is the most wild, unwarranted, IE breakdown I've ever seen (joined in 2010-2011). I'm not a paid subscriber to anything, so, like you, I've been looking for some evidence this is 100%. I don't dare say it isn't, as I well may be missing something.

All you Jabronis who think NIL doesn't benefit ND in a huge way is crazy.
Before NIL schools/boosters were still paying big name recruits to go to their school while ND wasn't. Now ND boosters can do it (just not up front) and ND has the largest fan base in college football. NIL benefits ND probably more then any other college in football. Before NIL, Miami Bama ATM were all paying kids and know that ND can legally do it they woke a sleeping monster

Bama fans are different level red neck. When you hear the banjo, you know you better paddle faster.

I’d like to make a PSA, I want to apologize to T Town Tommy for posting info that I thought to be irrelevant. I didn’t intend to be hateful, just tired of seeing the same old…

So to you sir, I apologize. Please keep posting as you will, I’ve just learned to avoid the constant thread bump.

And yet, here I am, 🤦‍♂️
