Read the article.
He's going off feelings and "we've seen Bama do this before"

Apparently he doesn't realize that prior Kelly history vs Freeman history are two different things...Super click bait headline...

I certainly believe Freeman is/will be the better recruiter of the two but what Freeman history? He has history of fending off Alabama for 5 stars?

Not to be all doomy-gloomy, and obvs things have changed under Freeman, but for informational purposes who was the last player we landed that Alabama actually wanted? Not, like, offered, because they offer half the damn country, but who they were really coming for? Who visited there and such.
I feel like Khalid Kareem had strong 'Bama interest, but there must be someone since then right?

It would have to be hard to call freeman up and tell him you’re going to another school after being committed for so long. Much easier to say that to Kelly.

With that said, if freeman doesn’t close the talent gap significantly I think ND football is in trouble regarding championship possibility. Right now freeman looks to be building teams that can go 10-2 or 11-1 and lose in the playoffs . (If we lose our top recruits) he also needs 10 wins this year to prove himself as a coach. Imho

He also needs to be as good of a coach as Kelly. People undervalue BKs ability to build programs mostly bc they don’t like him. Many are assuming MF will just simply be better than a 30 year coach that won at every stop bc he’s recruiting slightly better.

We flipped Kareem from Bama if I remember correctly, and he is the last player I can recall going truly head-to-head for.

That was the weakest update I’ve ever seen.
Starts of by saying Bama is the team to beat. But later says Bama is a team to watch out for.
Says pictures of Keeley grilling at the stadium are somehow an indicator?

He doesn’t know anything. “Contacts around Tampa…”
Who?

He has literally know clue what is happening, he is just assuming & sounding like a fan on a message board.
His entire quote was just speculation.

It’s a podcast getting quoted into written form that’s why it doesn’t read as a normal update. I don’t get taking issues with not naming his source? Who ever names their source?

Bama is, reportedly, throwing around bags now. That was the word on the street when they started landing all those big recruits out of nowhere last week.

I’m not trying to be pessimistic… and ND is doing a really good job of taking care of player on campus with FUND… but I think most 5-star recruits these days are simply going to end up at whichever of A&M, Oregon, Miami, Tennessee, etc. wants to put as much money as possible in a contract. Most schools aren’t doing that, it’s not like ND is “behind,” just sorta is what it is. I have a hard time seeing an ND booster going rogue like Ruiz at Miami.

I think they very much want Flanagan and he’s stayed solid FWIW. They wanted Devin Moore which we ended up losing to Florida but. True head to head and to the wire, if that what Keeley becomes probably Kareem.

Bama also went after Michael Mayer, this past year...

If Michigan and Ohio State are also serious about not paying players pre signing day. IE paying recruits then between the b1g and us sans the condoms. It may be time to put together a united front against this.

That would be nice. I doubt Ohio State will play good guy for long.

Since his mom is the one that speaks to media, it's clear to me that without money being involved Keon would be Irish. His mom's tweet about having to listen if offered a mil is worth acknowledging though. They are going to listen to and consider Bama and Fla. schools offering a bag

Nope. Bama seems to have for a while and just recently said F it. This wind sprinting towards college football just being usl soccer or triple A baseball is a major boner killer.

Alabama plays A&M on 10/8 and Auburn on 11/26. Florida plays LSU on 10/15. It’d expect those are 2 visits he ends up taking.

We play Clemson on 11/5.

That does slightly work in NDs favor timeline wise IF ND is a 1 loss team entering that game.

Can already see it coming that ND wants all commits to have that be there last visit they ever take.

I will be quite surprised if he isn't at OSU for the opener.

So he actually decommitted?
No one has uttered that word but his mom did say....

“We are taking a couple of other visits in the near future. One or two Florida teams, at least, when the dead period is over,” Keeley said. “And somewhere else. Still have to figure out exactly where. Then, come back and evaluate everything and see what is the best for Keon. But, of course, Alabama is of high interest.”

"One or two Florida teams" meaning not just UF but also... Miami? Yuck.

Basically the schedule of an uncommitted kid in the fall.

Wouldn’t you take a big bag of money too?? Total upper middle class, homerish hypocracy if you say “No”.

Keon is the best Edge in this class. That is the second most important position in Football. He is as valuable for a bag of money as a high 4 star QB like Vizzina or Holstein.

So the FUND better get its vuckin funding because high 5 stars will get their bags of cash elsewhere. The “We are different at ND” is worthless as a fart in the wind when alternatives worth hundreds of thousands are on the table.

Also, it doesn’t help that this class doesn’t have a QB leader to whip the class membership to stay tight. Sorry I don’t see Braylon James keeping Keon tight.
