Wouldn’t you take a big bag of money too?? Total upper middle class, homerish hypocracy if you say “No”.
You saying that to me!?

I have been VERY consistent in my support of NIL. I want these kids to get paid even if it means the destruction of college athletics as we know it.

Time to pony up. Money should never be a limiting factor. We hamstring ourselves enough in so many other ways.

ND is not going to give out bags of money. End of story. They will continue to do the NIL the correct way like they did with Lenzy and Stiles. I am not trying to be rude but if you don’t like that then you should probably find another team to root for.

He also needs to be as good of a coach as Kelly. People undervalue BKs ability to build programs mostly bc they don’t like him. Many are assuming MF will just simply be better than a 30 year coach that won at every stop bc he’s recruiting slightly better.
I think he’ll attract better coaches and recruiters so he personally may not be a better coach then Kelly but collectively I think they can be.

This season to me is so critical for many reasons. I personally was not that impressed with his coaching as DC then as HC.

My hope is he will be a better facilitator decision maker and leader than game plan and adjustment maker.

I would be shocked if he doesn’t flip to Alabama.

All student athletes absolutely 1000% deserve to be compensated for their name, image, and likeness. However, this current system is deeply corrupt on multiple levels. It has been before and it is now. Adults are full on gambling for the souls of kids. There are no lessons learned here other than the business of sports is about profit. All the lessons about sportsmanship, about embracing challenges, loyalty to teammates, education, etc. are backburner issues when the carrot of high stakes money is dangled in front of you.
And how do you have college NIL value as a high school junior. Haven’t seen any of em in a commercial yet. It is just pay to play

This is the type of mentality that insures 1988 will be our last Natty.

You don’t think Freeman recruits in a white Ferrari because that is the “Correct way” at ND.

I could see Freeman lose his fighting spirit if the up tights at ND keep all puritanical on recruiting.

Keon is the best Edge in this class. That is the second most important position in Football. He is as valuable for a bag of money as a high 4 star QB like Vizzina or Holstein.

So the FUND better get its vuckin funding because high 5 stars will get their bags of cash elsewhere. The “We are different at ND” is worthless as a fart in the wind when alternatives worth hundreds of thousands are on the table.

Also, it doesn’t help that this class doesn’t have a QB leader to whip the class membership to stay tight. Sorry I don’t see Braylon James keeping Keon tight.
I take bag of money unless ND shows me how I can Immediately earn comparable money upon stepping foot on campus.

BK had bad hiring moments (BVG), but he also was responsible for hiring:
Chuck Martin
Harry Heistand
Tony Alford
Mike Elston
Kerry Cooks
Mike Elko
Clark Lea
Marcus Freeman
Mike Mickens
Rees
Balis
O’Leary
Matt LaFleur
Diaco was even good at ND
Chip Long is interesting (debate-wise)

I’m sure there are others.

Since his mom is the one that speaks to media, it's clear to me that without money being involved Keon would be Irish. His mom's tweet about having to listen if offered a mil is worth acknowledging though. They are going to listen to and consider Bama and Fla. schools offering a bag
She said that months ago. It’s so easy to read to me. I said it then and I’ll say it now, Twitter and the comments/quotes you make in the media, are worth their weight in gold if you just really listen. Interpretation by the Loy’s and Driskell’s is lazy game. Not to mention actions speak louder than words. Every 5 star recruit that “committed” played this staff.

Or, can show me data that says I’ll make more here in the long term. For some, I do think ND offers the ability to earn NIL and certainly offers the after NFL stuff. But you have to be able to present that to kids. It’s a tough task to show them you can be Jerome Bettis and have a long NFL career and make a lot of money as a commentator when you see Ray Lewis do the same thing. The issue is a lot of them won’t have long NFL careers and aren’t future commentators. ND does legitimately offer them career advantages. But if I can make $9 mill just by signing with Tennessee, I’m doing that. I’ll go get a grad degree at ND later if it’s really that damn special.

You really want ND to operate like Tennessee, Oregon, and Miami? I sure as hell do not.

There's a reason those 3 in particular are throwing out bags: they're all irrelevant, desperate, and tired of being average for the past decade. ND has plenty of room for improvement but they aren't in the same league as those 3.

But Bama is going to be even more relevant which to me says death to college football. If they get any better than they’ve been, they should get pushed up to the NFL. College football is the best example of anarchy in all of sports.

I think a serious question is with all this cash promise. How many actually don’t get it. Already at USC we got two public issues of maybe people not getting the cash they were promised. Just wait until their is litigation and discovery. The slow seedy death of college athletics this way may be more entertaining than the actual games. Also for those who are sick of pay sites deliberate click bait schtick just cancel all the subs to the affiliated sites and just stick to to ISD or ib if necessary bc at least they aren’t helping to feed the deliberate click bait monsters of other teams and deliberately ginning up controversy for clicks.

Yes, I want kids to profit off of their NIL. Yes, families should do what they think is best for their family. It’s not my business.

No, I don’t want ND entering into “college free agent frenzy”. I appreciate what Brady Quinn et al are doing.

How the hell is pay to play nil ? Name image and likeness. Who the hell is profiteering and exploiting these poor down trodden put upon 17 year olds and getting rich off selling cigarettes and bubble gum with Richard Young’s face on it. You show me these corporate cock suckers and I promise you I will raise my voice an octave and declare they are racist, sexist, antisemites and damnable deplorable maga creatures

All these kids actively talking about flipping our top commits on twitter is a neat evolution of the recruiting game.

Funny thing is Bama is playing a losing game here. If they don't think A&M is going to swoop in and buy a good chunk of their kids at the last minute, they're in for a rough February. Alabama doesn't have the cash to play this game at that level long term.

I agree with all of this. I'd add - it's becoming increasingly clear why Kelly left. People can claim Kelly is lots of things but he certainly wasn't shortsighted when it came to self-interest

In a way, Jimbo buying players makes me happy bc Saban is the biggest piece of shit in the game. NIL was the only chance to destroy him.
