Coach Mike Zdebski hasn't given a timetable when Cholowsky will be back. Cholowsky has a big baseball career in front of him. He's one of the nation's top shortstops. He could be a first-round Major League Baseball draft pick next summer. But he also loves football, and, last week, took to social media to say that the University of Notre Dame has offered him a chance to play both baseball and football.
Zdebski said that Wisconsin, which doesn't have a baseball program, is close to offering Cholowsky a football scholarship. Cholowsky committed to UCLA in baseball before his sophomore year.

Might be a dumb question, but do we know exactly how Amir Carlisle and Alohi Gilman, for example, were able to make it through admissions as undergrad transfers? Is there a specific list of requirements?

Pretty sure Amir Carlisle only had one year of Gen Ed. courses, so that makes it much easier to transfer than someone who has a few years under their belt at a different university.

His arm and athleticism are legit.

The only downside risk happens if ND shuts down ‘23 QB recruiting just because he verbals. There’s no reason not to offer and host a visit if you think he’s worth a scholly.

This. Take his commitment if he’s willing and keep hunting for an additional one. It’s a win/win b/c if he doesn’t pan out in football, the baseball team still got better & there’s another QB in the class to offset this loss. If he opts for the MLB Draft, again…the 2nd commitment offsets the loss.

Regardless of his potential, now is not the time to avoid being aggressive. That ship sailed when they agreed to not offer all the 4-star QBs that would’ve likely committed & now have no interest in ND after being snubbed.

But Bama et al don’t normally have the 5* QB from the next class in the fold prior to signing their “stud” in the current class. I think not identifying that as an issue is a bit disingenuous.
