History is not on Jadarian’s side. Hopefully he bucks that trend.

Most of the guys on the list didn't pan out due to injuries, so if the trend is that a lot of the RBs drafted at the end of R1 have had injury problems, that's not something you can forecast as a GM, so if you need an RB, it's probably not a good idea to pass up on the 2nd best RB in the draft just because of a weird injury trend.

I'm not saying you were suggesting that, but the guy who tweeted that is saying it was a bad pick. His rationale is wrong.

Also its a silly exercise because it acts like you can guess how good a player is by where they happened to be picked. If Derrick Henry had been selected at No. 32 instead of 45th, does that suddenly mean that Price is more likely to be a good pick?

Agreed, but in my 80+ years of experience, you can't stop the average knucklehead from talking about stupid things.

🚨 NOTRE DAME MAN ALERT 🚨

“Price on why he stayed at Notre Dame for 4 years and why he never left, via Seattle Sports:

"Because Notre Dame was the best decision of my life, I wanted to finish my degree, compete for a championship, and prove to myself that I was the best running back and player in college football. I wanted to challenge myself and look at where I am right now."

On the NIL and the difficult discussions to move on:

"Yeah, after the national championship. You get multiple calls. I'm from Texas, coming back home. Like I could come back home closer to family. North Carolina with [Bill] Belichick, multiple others. When my mom heard the offers that they were giving me upfront, she just came to tears, "Is this really real?" I felt some type of way when I had to tell her that I have a plan, I want to stay at Notre Dame, even though I made half that life-changing money. I feel that plan is working."

ESPN: "Notre Dame reportedly paying its players half of what they could earn elsewhere"

Former NIU HC Thomas Hammock is going to be Price's RB coach in Seattle.

I want to be a fly on the wall should a certain convo ever take place between the two of them.

He already talked about it in an interview. Hammock apparently told him, "if I was your coach you would've won that game because I would've run you and Love a lot more." Which, fair.

I am just disgusted to read that, for what seems like every player and recruit, including our best players Love and Price, how little ND is offering financially compared to other schools. ND is self-sanctioning itself via its stupid mantra of refusing to make the highest offer for anyone. We are very lucky that Love and Price (and Carr, etc) stayed despite this, but I am very concerned that this is going to come to roost soon and the best players simply aren't even going to come here in the first place, let alone stay when other schools are offering so much more.

To be clear, Price was almost certainly getting paid less because he was our RB2 and was being offered full time RB1 money by those other schools. Love was making top dollar. There's no reason to think ND is underpaying the market. Price was a unique situation, decided to be paid less to stick with ND instead of getting top dollar to waste himself trying to carry the tarheels and it paid off for him.

Is there any evidence, based on recent recruiting/transfer portal classes, that ND is being "cheap" compared to other schools? The draw for Price would have been the featured back somewhere else. A small hometown discount is one thing, but I would like to see evidence that he made half of what he would have made at Texas at ND.

1) Love’s dad inferred he chose ND out of high school for less money, not that he made “little” this year. We’ve known this for years. It was Texas A&M.

2) change your sheets

3) yeah ND probably paid Price less to be a backup RB than someone would offer to be a starter, that seems rather obvious. and it paid off. I’m sure conversations were had to make sure Price was compensated to his liking, which often includes raises during the year.

4) it’s a business, change your sheets a second time.

With Price it’s obvious he could have left for more money. Love said many times he took pay cuts every year to stay here. The pods have said many times CJ took a significant hometown discount to help the roster.

I believe most took less up front to come here and were all offered more to leave, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking they aren't getting paid well. We wouldn't have the roster we have without spending in the top 5.

Insane turn this thread has taken after the most impressive skill draft class from ND in the tenure of my fanhood.

So what? ND clearly is competitive in the market and is not blindly throwing money around as you seem to think they should
