If the staff knows Carr is going to start, they would be doing Steve a solid by letting him go somewhere to go play.

Having said that, the team is definitely better with Steve on it, ideally as the number 2. I would imagine the staff would be pretty nervous about neither of their top QBs having any playing experience.
I know a QB on the roster that has played in big games and hostile environments, including The Horseshoe

Tulane was also going after Nico, and I checked earlier and Tulane's recruiting director had slid into Urlacher's follows, even though he's probably going to USC.

I think it might just be that Tulane is shooting a bunch of shots, and that got misunderstood as a definite thing re: Angeli.

I dont understand some of this. I completely understand the desire to play. These guys are competitors. But it ends at CFB. None of these guys are pro level material. If you cant start in college at a big team, that means you just arent the cream that the pros get. So why would you leave a place like ND without a ND degree to go play (maybe) for a less academic school? That just doesnt make sense.
Urlacher maybe is lower D1 player but very doubtful for pros. Angeli is never seeing inside a pro stadium without a ticket in hand period.
Why not get the degree that sets you up for post CFB rather than chasing (maybe) playtime at a lesser degree school?

I think if you grind 40 hours/week at a sport you love and have confidence in your abilities, you want a chance to prove yourself on the biggest stage. I wholeheartedly agree that it encourages rash decision-making, but I think certain guys see it as a bet on themselves.

What would prevent him from pulling a Drew Pyne and coming back to ND to finish his degree?

Tom Brady was a part time starter in college. Sometimes it clicks later in life... Kurt Warner. If they believe in themselves and want to play, let them.
