Hope he sticks around, been pullin' for him since day 1. I think he and his mom have been big supporters of ND since arriving on campus. I don't know if the move to DT has worked out, I think he was better suited as the highly recruited DE he was brought in as. Credit Tyson, we asked him to make the move and he gained the weight to do it. Would suck to lose him after he made that change for us. FWIW, his super fan mom just retweeted something from ISD and Mike Berardino about Tyson taking personal time to consider his options.

Just curious

Can they come off of medical and go onto scholarship again in the future ?

is “medical scholarship” a nice way of saying he was pushed out?
in some instances but really it means stay here and graduate and then assess your options later. It's a kinder resolution than telling a kid they straight up have to go look for a transfer

I believe they can but only at another school.
Correct. This is a way to get to 85 while they rehab. After they graduate they can transfer if they feel like playing again.
I think they are in different places though. Gobaria had a severe ACL tear and wouldn’t have been full go in August. If Ford was hurt I missed it. All they said was he left the team.

Really stinks with Aiden, i had high hopes for him.

I wonder if his injury is/was that bad or if he just doesn't want to go through what it takes to make it back at a high level from a bad injury.

A second hamstring tear ended my playing career because I did not want to go through that level of rehab again. 20+ years ago, they didn't treat your rehab like they do today They pushed you so hard to get back as fast as possible, not when you're physically and mentally ready like they do today.

Ford, essentially, lost the drive for football is what I've interpreted from the beat...they can't "say it" but it seems that way. Perhaps it's consider mental health and can still get a medical though? Good for him if so and sticks it out.

I still think they should have kept him as an edge rusher instead of putting on weight. He was highly recruited for that position, but it is what it is. Really wanted to see him succeed on the field, he and his mom especially seemed to rep the Irish quite a bit and said a lot of nice things about the university. Hopefully he gets his degree and maybe ball out somewhere as a graduate.

It's not about the position switch. And I don't think you'll see him play college football (at least D1) ever again, if what I have gathered is true. Sounds like he's stepping away from the game.

It's tough getting passed up but sounds like it just was a bad evaluation

Second hamstring tear ended your heisman run, eh? Is that why you’re such a miserable person?

Actually understanding football and our deficiencies makes it less shocking when we lose a game. Not alway, but some times.

First tear was partial, that sucked, second was full and I was not ready mentally to do 530am rehab for months.

Injuries are hard. We like to think our potential is unlimited. Injuries usually disrupt that

They often miss the game and recycle back to playing again. But you're never going to be a "can't miss" prospect again.
