Next year is a good year for Indiana prospected. ND needs to lock down all the ones that qualify.

His Center Grove team is the best team in the State. They will likely win every game remaining in the tournament by at least two scores. The defense has had something like six games this season where they didn’t give up a first down until the second half. They are the undisputed best team in State, with only Cathedral (who they beat head to head) a somewhat close second, and no one else is really close.

With Ashton Craig’s commitment, I wanted to look into Indiana’s 2022 prospects and totally forgot about Curry. While I think Hinish was a solid pickup (change of pace from current roster and basically guaranteed to not transfer with new transfer rules), it’s a pretty tough pill to swallow saying we passed on Curry due to size when Hinish is at the most the same size if not smaller.

I think I remember hearing Hinish is a legit 6'3", while Curry is more like 6'1".

Regardless, I'm not going to question Elston's decisions.

Anyone know the story here? Weird that ND never was involved with a top 100 DT from Indiana with Bama, Clemson, and OSU offers.

His offers and how hard those teams are recruiting him are two different things. I think he is the backup plan for a few of those teams. Without being negative towards him, I don’t see how he is ranked that high. Hopefully his family doesn’t see this since he lives a couple miles over from me. LOL

He & his family were definitely interested & were also not happy ND didn’t offer early. Once ND didn’t offer early, that put them well behind. If ND would have been an early offer, they had a legit chance. But he wanted the OSU offer & OSU offered early, so they were in the driver’s seat. But I think they aren’t pushing really hard right now for him, which is why his recruitment is still ongoing.

Greenwood HS is rarely any good, so I'm not sure if he's getting good coaching or not.

story seems pretty obvious; we (Elston) didn't like him that much. Not to say Elston can't be wrong from time to time but trusting the recruiting services over a proven coach is a pretty dubious mind set.

I have this feeling he is going to end up a Vol.

It doesn't feel like OSU's gonna take him unless things change with the Buck's and his QB's going to Knoxville but WHY is this kid not going to IU right now

UTK might get it going a lil bit or it might remain the laughing stock of the SEC but they'll be stuck behind UGA & FL with a fanbase that has huge expectations.

At IU you're fighting to retain your bridesmaid status in the B1G-E which makes every God-fearin' Bobby fan extremely proud. Maybe more important is Bloomington takes a backseat to no one in college experience and Mom can swing thru every couple of weeks and grab your dirty laundry.

Classic case of ego making you go away to play because you couldn't go to your ego's first choices?

I wonder if we'll circle back if we miss on Lucas and Kanu.

That's what I've been thinking.

Local recruit, Kenneth Grant, visited OSU earlier this year and I was told he has a committable offer from them. Staff told him they are focused on getting bigger on the interior of their dline. Makes sense if he truly has a committable offer as a 3 star and they're cooling off on Caden who is a top 100 recruit.

I watched center grove play last year in the playoffs and this kid can play. No clue what that means at the next level but he was all over the field.

That's basically what we heard as to why Elston didn't offer earlier. But then we went after Hinish and haven't recruited another interior player of size. If I keep talking about Dominique Orange, maybe I can speak it into existence.

Conversation has changed as time went on if you read through the thread but I don’t think Elston really viewed him as his ranking and I don’t think he had any special affinity for ND either is a short answer. Idk if he was a on a red light this whole time for OSU because he’s been a lean there for over a year.

I live very near Caden and have seen him play a bit & grew up and played with his coaches and my uncle was a principal in the Center Grove school system, so I won’t say anything one way or the other (good or bad) about Caden, but he wasn’t going to ND. And I think there is a reason ND didn’t agree with his ranking. I’m not the least bit upset about it…

Ironically Ohio State people are claiming he’d be a 5-star if he lived in the south and got more pub.

I mean, Elston is pretty good at his job. If Curry was that level Elston would have at least been in contact with him more than he was? Not going to go into detail, but right around the time before things shut down in recruiting due to Covid rules, ND wasn’t talking to him at all.
