I’m more worried about Merriweather — who is a better player — with Del leaving than I am about CJ. I think Tommy has work to do to keep Merriweather but can pull it off. Not sure anything can really be done by Tommy to save Walker and CJ at this point but we’ll see.

I agree that Merriweather is priority number one. If one of Walker and CJ can be saved that sets us up better for when theres time to poach from other coaching changes that are still to be had.

On Chris Zorich’s podcast the other day Tom Lemming was saying that BK didn’t have relationships at the powerhouse Catholic high schools across the country. He didn’t mention Mater Dei specifically but you have to assume BK didn’t have much of a relationship there either. Since BK took over we’ve landed 2 players from Mater Dei, Joe Schmidt and Sam Bush who never played. SC didn’t really had the school on lockdown during BK’s time like it didn’t when Pete Carroll was there. There were opportunities to land kids from there, we just never did. Hopefully MFMF makes his presence felt there.

He also asked the Dematha coach why ND didn't get Chase Young and their coach said because Kelly never came to the school. While Urban, Saban, Dabo, and the rest of the HC's who take recruiting seriously showed up to the school themselves, Kelly sent his assistants.
