Not certain, but he played more snaps than any defensive player except Watts on Saturday.

Did Freeman not elaborate at all on how Morrison got hurt?

Doesn’t sound like it. And the beat is terrified to push the coach on any questions.

But I suppose if u just get outright answers, it’s hard to churn out “speculation content” for the next week or two.

O'Malley thinks this means he returns next year depending on the severity because he won't be healthy for the draft. If it means sacrificing a playoff run this year for a championship next year... i mean that team is stacked outside of interior d-line if he came back.
I would be shocked if he came back for another year. This feels similar to kyle Hamilton getting hurt for the year in '21.

His draft stock may slide, but it'll still be too enticing for him not to leave unless they come up with an unprecedented nil deal.

If you come back you are pushing back getting the second NFL deal by a year. Even if he slips in the draft that NIL deal would need to be crazy good to make up that difference.

As much as this hurts, you could replace him with Sauce Gardner, and they aren't winning a Natty. Get better BM, and get that money!!

Probably true, but he has the potential to be a game-changer in clinching a playoff spot, which would be a big boost for the program. Even if they make it without him, losing him could be the difference between merely making the playoffs and actually winning a postseason game - something this program desperately needs.

Why would you want to announce how exactly the injury happened or even what exactly it is when the guy is a 1st round pick?

You don't say shit until you find out of he's going to the draft this year or next.

Doesn’t change things one way or another for the draft. NFL ppl will find out exactly what happened, extent of injury and recovery. Announcing or not doesn’t change that.

I’m sorry but when a captain/one of your best players appears to be fully healthy on Saturday and then has season-ending surgery on Monday, the smart move is to say what happened.

Like SD said, the NFL scouts will find out either way. But in the absence of any public information the rumor mill inevitably starts spinning and that helps no one.

He went to the locker room in A&M and Louisville games and also doesn’t seem to be as moving as well as prior years. Flammang mentioned something a few weeks ago that he looked off like something was bothering him. Probably tore his labrum in his hip and tried pushing through it.

tbh I didn’t even know hips had labrums. I hear “labrum” and immediately think shoulder automatically.

I honestly think this is what it is. His body has not been 100% this season

Hold your beer because your hips are basically just your shoulders of the lower extremity. Spent a lot of time in the training room in college from my own (shoulder) labrum repair

Did it impact his play though? He was on pace for more tackles, both solo and assists, and never seemed to be targeted.

I tore mine and ran on it for 3 years. Nothing explosive other than a kick. No big issues when I ran, it's the rest of the time. Worst is when you are trying to sleep.

Edit - I was also in my mid/late 30s, not in my early 20s.

Ok. I might take some heat for this take. I don't post much. But from seeing some of these comments. I understand where some are coming from. To some this is a huge deal. Why? Because it seems like ND has suffered a rash of injuries that we haven't seen in a bit at ND. As I see some are saying it's because of the new SC couch. I don't know. As much as I love ND. I don't follow the ins and outs as some here. I just root for my team. And TX. Sorry lol. But here's my point. We've lost a lot of talent due to injuries. For me. Just me. I'm a competitor. And these kids are too. My guess is that JB, BenMo and BT come back for another yr. Not saying they will. But this defense can be special. But this is just me posting high. Thoughts

Surprised at the lack of discussion about Mickey coming back and how much it hurts now. What happens if gray who has already missed time misses more? You can’t tell me a discussion with freeman and Mickey hasn’t happened.

Maybe not on the stat line but he certainly wasn’t moving the same with quick twitch

Traore's only a sophomore. Barring a transfer or something he's definitely back.

Botelho's interesting. If he can put together a full year like he started this one, he could play his way into the NFL. OTOH that guy has played a lot of college football and some in his boat are ready to move on with life. We'll see.

BenMo probably goes to the draft but there's a chance we throw him some good NIL and he pulls a Watts. Especially if he thinks he could up his draft stock with a season of good health - which he really hasn't had since last season. The difference in pay between being a top 10 pick and an end-of-first-round pick is substantial. Maybe he makes that bet.

You can often use NIL to convince mid-round pick style guys to come back for another year, but if he's still slotted into the 1st round I don't see that math mathing.

There were times this year I felt like BenMo was making "business decisions" out there. At times playing like a guy who didn't want to get hurt. Maybe that was to protect the shoulder or maybe that was to protect his draft stock.

I'd be shocked, based on that, if he came back.
