Mike singer on blue and gold reported that he is very much considering flipping. The staff will talk to him early next week and singer thinks that’s when they try to seal the deal

This is my first time doing premium content so if I’m out of line let me know or admin can take down

As far as I know, you’re good. You can’t paraphrase but can’t, copy and paste stuff. I could be wrong though

Nate Atkins also said Gilliam is 50/50 on flipping, so it seems this is serious.

Yeah I really hope Prister wasn't overstating, because on the podcast he basically made it sound like Gilliam was a silent.

On Twitter yesterday after the flurry of commitments, Pete Sampson said that ND is expecting to add to their defensive front very soon, as well. Who else could it be but Gilliam?

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Notre Dame flipped three-star offensive lineman Caleb Johnson from Auburn on Thursday, just hours after getting a commitment from three-star linebacker Kahanu Kia from Hawaii. That's four commitments this week as Notre Dame hopes to add another defensive lineman in short order.</p>— Pete Sampson (@PeteSampson_) <a href="https://twitter.com/PeteSampson_/status/1329601627485990912?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

There has been a ton of chatter in the Omar Hunter thread, so maybe that's what Pete is hearing.

We could really use an Oklahoma State win this weekend. The Sooners have been blowing out teams the past few weeks, which has taken some of the stink off their two god awful losses. A loss to the Cowboys, or a shootout where the Sooners D looks inept (as usual), would go a long towards helping us seal the deal.

As an aside, what sane person would want to play defense for Oklahoma? They’ve been on a staggering run of incompetence on that side of the ball.

I agree but like you stated, OU seems to have found their groove and is blowing folks out after two bad losses. Rattler seems to be the real deal and to think he’s the first recruited OU QB to start in some time and the first in the Riley era.

Their defense is a lot better this year than a few years ago.

Dang, Irish are hot as hell on the recruiting trail...might be right time to get to Vegas and roll dice! Landing KG would be awesome if accomplished. Amazing the difference when the program is recognized as being among the top programs....keep it rolling!

OU's defense has actually shown back up. Here they are compared to ND's. OU's front 3 + Nick Bonitto at ROLB is a very good group.

They may have improved, but they still appear to be in the bottom half of the Big 12 in terms of defense. Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Texas all hit or exceeded their scoring average against Oklahoma. The only teams that OU held below their scoring average are terrible—Missouri St., Kansas, and TCU.

Also, four teams have scored 28 points or more against OU this season. By comparison, four teams have scored 28 points or more against ND in the Clarke Lea era.

So what you're saying is we're better than them in pretty much every statistical category on defense... Plus we played 5 quarters against Clemson while they've played against the worst big 12 in about a decade. Ill become a believer in that defense if they can handle ok state.

Of course not all, but I have never in my life seen a group of teenage kids who articulate themselves and their priorities as maturely as Notre Dame football players. Of course, kids will be kids no matter how precocious but good grief, so many of these guys just seem like future motivational speakers, leaders in any organization they are a part of, you name it. I'm always struck wondering how parents can raise such strong-minded, mature kids in this day in age.

...but then you hear how parents like Gilliam's talk and see the dynamic between them and with their son and it becomes clear. Rare for sure.

As in all sports, defenses on teams with superior offenses never appear as good. Rattler's passing game is in another stratosphere compared to ND's and they score quick. I'll guarantee OU's opponents are getting a lot more possessions to score those points and they are only giving up 35 more yds per game as compared to ND.

They're averaging the same number of plays on defense as us

Sitting here digging into ND's def. numbers, I just realized the avg plays are right in front of my face and both D's have faced about the same amount of plays. So the devils is in the details as 35 yds per game difference is turning into a TD difference is scoring margin between the two. And that's w/o factoring in ST and Def scoring of course. Too much to dig into right now for me.

Gilliam is almost built more like a 3-tech than a DE but he's quick enough around the edge that I have no problem with him sticking at DE. Seems like he has unusually long arms considering his height as he has no problem getting reach on the OL. Might end up in an Issac Rochelle role as Big DE which I feel like we haven't really had in a while. I want this kid in Blue & Gold.

Yes on all of it.

I believe Oklahoma is pitching 3T while I know ND has been showing him film of our recent DE's. Ade, Hayes, Kareem. Hopefully they are talking about a couple of these things. You can manage weight versus just keep gaining it. Rochelle is a great example of that, dropped weight in the NFL in order to get quicker on the edge. I mentioned this in another thread, Hayes is dropping weight as we speak making him noticeably quicker. Maybe they can keep that weight down at a reasonable level to keep his quickness 270-275 is perfectly fine for an NFL DE.
