from what i've heard is that he had difficulty picking up the defense...great athlete and player just didn't know where to be and responsibilities

Somewhat expected.

He was a raw high school player that dominated lower-level Tennessee football. He just couldn't develop the way ND hoped. Ziegler and Sneed both passed him up.

He had a great relationship with Lea & Lezynski... i'd be surprised if it's not Vandy.

How many years of eligibility do Bertrand, Kiser and Marist have left?

On the IB recruiting podcast they just said this has been known a month before the spring practices even started because he was telling his teammates he was transferring to Vanderbilt then. That’s why he was “hurt” during the spring.

Yep, it’s too bad. But, OK, wish him well, we’ll be fine.

I don't like this one. Not the kid's fault imo. Yeah I get it you need to learn the scheme but that talent level needs to be utilized cuz we don't have guys like this walking through the door every year. Probably an unpopular opinion but just my thoughts.
I agree ND needs to develop these guys better but at the same time if he’s not picking up the defense scheme you can’t expect the coaches to put him on the field. It didn’t work out it happens

I think we have had 3-4 of him walk through the door since he did.

Sneed, Ziegler, Junior, Bowen & Burnham are all as talented.
Burnham moved because he grew, Junior played as a true freshman & moved to play more this year, Sneed will probably start and Ziegler & Bowen are both expected to play, Ziegler a lot, this year.
They all passed Kollie up for a reason. He was down to 210 lbs and Sneed & Ziegler are a better version of him.

I don’t think kollie was passed up by those guys. He just leaving because he wasnt going to start.

I know you're just relaying what you heard..... i just wonder wonder where does LB coaching coming in here? The output better be high this year because it was not good in 21 and 22. We may be rolling out the same starting 3 from last year that didn't produce.

Does Marist know where he needs to be? He played the most defensive snaps last year and had 22 solo tackles from the LB position.

Again, LB play needs to take a huge step forward.

Kollie was most likely 3rd on the depth chart at Will……he was going to be fighting an uphill battle for snaps this year. Still, disappointed he is transferring out.

Sneed & Ziegler both passed him up in the LB rotation.
This has been discussed by multiple sites.
Junior played a different LB position, but played in the rotation over Kollie last year.

ND loves Ziegler & obviously Sneed. Kollie getting down to 210 put him in size range with Sneed & Ziegler is longer & both Sneed & Ziegler are faster.

Exactly, if he couldn’t pass Marist then that’s probably all you need to know. It is what it is, it didn’t workout but I’ll trust the judgment of the coaches that coach him everyday in practice
kollie was better than marist last season - at least on the field.

Nobody listens to the sites.
Sneed is probably next one in the portal.

How can you not pick up defensive schemes and be a student athlete at Notre Dame?

Hate to see him leave!

Sounds like he may have been what we called a front of the bus player back in my day. Put the huge dudes with the physiques up front to scare the other team while the scrawny guys who could play and win games would sit in the back and come off the bus last.
