I know it's not a popular opinion but I just think the kid wants to go to Clemson

Just trolling. There was some hidden fonts in the post

Making fun of the Rivals National guys. They never push ND or give them the comparison win.

I was wondering that. I feel like whenever I read rivals national guys it’s never ever in favor of ND. Pretty amazing

Hope Buchner is as all over this as Big Blake. Him and Will have that LAX connection, and a 5* QB holds weight. JJ has been taking that responsibility on for Mich.

Buchner is. Will has stated publicly on numerous occasions that he has the best relationship with ND commits. Not sure it’s close. I really feel he’d be committed if he had taken the two visits as planned. But the Coronavirus is making a lot of kids think about staying closer to home. Not just the ones ND is recruiting and not just in football.

Any updates on what is in the article besides the visit dates that makes it optimistic?

I think he meant it's optimistic that we'll be able to have players on campus so soon?

FWIW, the UW model predicts Indiana to be COVID-19 free by May 21. I don’t know enough to know if that means commercial air travel will be safe by mid-June though...

Keep that opinion to yourself, please. The rest of us would like to think our June plans are on.

Thank You

That and the Governor just extended the stay at home until April 20th. Hopefully we have peaked by then and on the downward spiral.......we shall see

We may have hit the peak by then, but I would be shocked if it didn't get extended again till May 1st to match what Ohio has done.

You may very well be right on that...... hopefully we'll see some movement in the next few weeks and then trending down.

The article makes it pretty clear this is going to be a Clemson-ND dogfight, and goes into detail about how COVID has changed his recruitment.

Dabo has only texted him once...BK has called him 2 or 3 times and talks to his family. Shipley also says he talks to ND recruits and players more than he talks to recruits and players from all other schools combined. Gotta like that.

Ultimately sounds like we're tied right now, and no decision has been made.

Since I'm posting Athletic stuff, I'll also add that there is some great ND content on there and it is well worth the price of admission

Concur on The Athletic. It is head and shoulders better than any sports section of a newspaper.

For me, this recruitment can be perfectly summarized by Shipley's last quote in from this article:

“I want to be able to help my class recruit

Sweet! He wants to come to ND and help fill out the rest of this class. We win!!

...and be the best class there is."

Oh, he's going somewhere that has designs on being the #1 class in 2021. Rats.

This one is low key stressful.

The visit will be huge, obviously. Texting/talking on the phone with our commits and coaches is one thing but interacting with them in person and being on campus is the only thing that can swing this in our favor. Seems like we're doing everything we possibly can and yet we still don't have the lead.

Because he hasn't been able to visit. He's only been to ND once and it was for a gameday as an underclassmen unofficial visitor. Outside of the game/gameday atmosphere, very little time to experience much else. This all comes down to if he can get back on campus. If he visits, I like ND. If visits are pushed out further than June, I think he shuts it down and goes with Clemson. If he already had his two ND visits complete, I'd like ND.

Corona may have saved ND from having that March 21-23 visit when it was 35, 37 & 41, cloudy/dreary & no leaves on the trees.

Seeing ND on June 12th when the leaves are out and temps around 80 will feel just like NC that time of the year. ND in the summer/fall is one of the most beautiful places you can visit.

I'd take those crappy weather visits over not having them at all, up to this point.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I think he also said while it was the first time Dabo had called him, it was big that he called him. BK has definitely beat Dabo to the punch and it is close. It I had to guess I would say we might be leading 52% - 48% if you put percentages on it.

I'd be fairly surprised if ND led as of today. Shipley needs to visit for ND to have that chance.
