Best commitment video I’ve ever seen, that was awesome.

I just loaded it to YouTube as well, but definitely appreciate the kind words for Grant and our team!

Somebody mentioned that he had told his grandpa where he'd play in college last year, because gramps was on his deathbed. It was not confirmed that he said ND, though gramps was a big ND fan so you put 2 and 2 together

I didn't know that either. That's something really special that I'm sure he'll always think of before stepping on the field.

But I was referring more to the fact in the video he said as a young boy he made the promise. Which is why I was surprised that never seemed to leak out to anyone in a conversation or two.

Either way, love the kid, the dad cracked me up after the commitment with the kick (can definitely still see the athleticism there), and the family all seems super close. Can't wait to have them in the stands on Saturdays.

Yeah, I'll second it. Really brilliant work.
The only way it could have been classier would be if there was a scene of him throwing a Michigan jersey on a bonfire with his buddys all laughing in the background (all in slow motion)

This was the big one we've be wanting for a long time. An incredible two month recruiting run gets capped off with potentially the surest thing of this class. I think I'm most excited about Rocco's commitment because, with Blake also in the fold, we have two future NFL guards in this class. Terrific job by the staff for going into Michigan and taking him for the skunks. Congrats Rocco!

Also, the Michigan board on 247 is a big pile of shit. I don't think I've ever seen saltier posts than that. Their true colors really started to show.

I went through the ND commits and found 9 with SkunkBears offers. Noticed far fewer Skunbear commits with ND offers.

A few random thoughts

Our Oline is gonna be moving the line of scrimmage 5 yards downfield on every down a la 2017.

Anti-McGregor vibes...

Rocco is a great football name.

Congrats to Rocco and family, Coaches and fellow student athletes. I like the recruits ND is attracting and that are committing. An elite RB would seem a natural with the OL personnel on board.

could Rocco start as a true freshman? Besides Banks and Lugg there isn't anyone else who really looks like he'll have the job locked down and Lugg will probably have to move to tackle.

At 315 Rocco looks like a college junior so its not too far fetched to see him as an immediate starter, very rare in college football for an OLM.

Man the last 2 commits recruiting videos were money$$$$.

Kind of young men that an old fan is really proud to be able to pull for. Plus I think they both will shake down the thunder during their time in South Bend. Congrats to Rocco and the Spindler family, congratulations to Grandpa Spindler looking down, a fine young man you’ve got.

While I think Fisher and Spindler will be competitive out of the gates, I think that’s a lot to ask. Patterson will certainly have one interior spot locked down, most likely OC. Banks at LG. Even if Lugg goes outside he’d still be in competition with Correll and Dirksen. I don’t see him beating out both but especially Correll.

Was Singer as inside on this as Loy and Freeman? The reason I ask? If so, he sure left BJ hanging

So anyone follow the timeline close enough to realize who knew when?

This recruitment has spotlighted the interesting dynamics of how the two big networks do and don't work together to bring their customers the info they are paying for and how the one off, non-network sites survive or thrive against the big organizations.

I agree regarding Fisher and Spindler. They may possibly be in the two deep, but no guarantee to that even.

To me 2021 OL would look something like this assuming Banks returns.

Tackles: Two of Banks, Carroll, Luggs
Guards: Two of Banks, Luggs, Dirksen, Patterson
Center: Zeke Correl

Note that Banks, Luggs, Patterson and Zeke will be starters. That would leave one starting spot open between Dirksen at guard or Carroll at tackle. The combination of the best 5 will play.

Add Patterson and Banks is a maybe to come back.

Freshmen start more than you'd think in P5 but he's not starting at ND next year without injuries and that's plural.

ISD mentioned that only four people were aware and even his highschool coach wasn't one of them making it difficult at times when putting the video together. ISD and Matt Freeman specifically were very on top of every step here and did a great job with the coverage and the video.

I think Banks is close to a certainty to come back. If he left now he would be lucky to be drafted. If he does split it will mean he has had a great season, but he would still likely be the fourth drafted OL from his team which would have to make him lean towards returning.

I thought the same but an NFL scout said he's hearing many have him as a first round talent right now. I took that as first round physical talent and not a finished product.

We'll see.

If their is a season this year and if he stays healthy and if he performs to his potential then he is a first rounder. That’s a lot of IFs. Personally I think he comes back for a 5th year as I think the staff promised him he could play one of the tackle spots in his final season.

You got a link for this, does anyone? (Not saying you're wrong, I have no idea)

That's huge news.

Thats interesting and makes me cry about the probably of this season not happening. Sounds like we have 3 OL who could be 1st round and another 2nd or 3rd.

Aaron Banks has graded well accordingly to PFF the last two seasons.

https://www.si.com/college/notredame/film-room/notre-dame-football-pff-top-30-offensive-line

"Left guard Aaron Banks started the final six games of 2018 and maintained that role in 2019, allowing minuscule pressure along the way. His 2.1% pressure rate allowed over the last two seasons at left guard is tied for the seventh lowest in the FBS."

If he can improve even just slightly for this upcoming season, he will be one of the better OGs in college football.

With a degree in hand, and three years of game film to apply to his resume, it’s not hard to envision Banks leaving after this season.

Yes, BIgQ and McGlinchey returned for another year on eligibility even though they could have still been selected high in the NFL draft (Although, I wouldn’t have seen MCGlinchey as a Top 10 pick after the 2017 season), but a second round grade as an OG is hard to not seize the opportunity on.

It’s a real possibility that ND could lose four starters on the OL after this season.

spokesman for the Michigan High School Athletic Association said on Monday the organization is revisiting its decision to postpone football until the spring. However, teams won’t be able to play games unless Gov. Gretchen Whitmer adjusts an executive order.

The MHSAA spokesman said leaders had a change of heart after seeing how other states in the region have handled football with little to no problems this fall.

One of Whitmer’s coronavirus executive orders prevents outdoor competitions without social distancing. The MHSAA says that order would have to be repealed or amended to allow football.

Boys’ soccer, volleyball and swimming/diving competitions in much of the Lower Peninsula also are on hold due to restrictions in that order.

The MHSAA spokesman said schools could still play a spring football season if administrators are not comfortable playing in the fall. They also may consider having Upper Peninsula football teams play this fall while the Lower Peninsula waits until spring.

“Everything is on the table,” the spokesman said.

If Whitmer gives approval, the MHSAA plans to have at least a two-week period for teams to resume practices and training before starting games. Officials aren’t sure how that would affect the season schedule.

Currently, teams are allowed 16 practices in helmets only before Oct. 31. The remainder of the proposed spring football schedule -- if necessary -- has not been announced.

Spindler might have a senior season after all
