He was a part of Bruce Feldman's Freak list going into '24.

Wisconsin WR Will Pauling named to college football 'Freaks List'

"At 5-10, 190, Pauling, second in the Big Ten last year with 74 catches, is a stick of dynamite. His 22 third-down catches that converted first downs was the most by a Big Ten player since 2016," Feldman wrote. "His 11 contested catches in 2023 tied for the most of any returning Big Ten player. He has run 4.39 in the 40, 4.03 in the pro agility shuttle and vertical-jumped 36 inches, and he’s incredibly strong. He squatted 600 pounds this summer, deadlifted 605 and did 15 reps on the bench of 225."

Had a bit of a down year mostly due to Van Dyke going down on the first play of the 3rd game against Bama. Their backup Locke was brutal a legit low end mac QB!

Per Driskell (early thoughts)...

Z/SLot guy in NDs offense. Will battle for starting spot but staff looks at him as a depth, rotational piece. Helps the room if some of the younger players need more time developing.

Agree with this. He is likely better than Harrison but not as good as Faison or Greathouse at their best.

I don’t know how a sandwich will help our roster but I have faith in Marcus.
Twas the night the before Christmas and all thru the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. GrangerIrish and his wife were nestled all snug in their bed, while visions of a Marcus sandwich danced in their heads.

Ain't no way we brought in a dude who caught 116 passes in the Big 10 to be a depth/rotational piece...

Might be a two year guy. Only played in one game in 2021. Looks like Mike Brown has now recruited him three times, Cincy in 21,Wisc in 23 and now. That’s the pattern most of our transfers are guys we know

Who cares if he "starts". If the WR room is to get better, you need 7-8 guys who are getting real snaps and producing. He can obviously produce as is noted in his stat line at Wiscy. As mentioned above the WHEN and HOW he produces is important. He's not just a guy who catches 6 yarders in the flat on 1st down. He's a go to who moves sticks on 3rd.

JR ..... 13G ..... 74 rec ..... 834 rec ..... 6 TD
SR .... 10G ..... 42 rec ..... 407 rec ..... 3 TD

Also needs to be put in print:

ND knows what they are getting here... Gino, Brown and Denbrock targeted him early at Cincy (he committed in April of his JR year) and he then followed Brown to Wiscy. Solid pick up.

His 3 best games were LSU, Bama and Penn State
